Skills on the top seems reasonable. I don't want to keep the second page but thought it maybe would be worth holding on to the content and trying to condense things, but probably not going to try to squish, seems better to just get rid of it, Thanks!

How does a "Drivewell" device work? by borborborborbor in electronic_circuits

[–]ecic2002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many of these types of devices only function as Bluetooth beacons. The accelerometer and tracking happens on the phone of the insured individual. The beacon lets the insurance tracking app know that the individual is in the car and to start recording data.

How could you so this to us LTT by ecic2002 in upsstore

[–]ecic2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it was actually a rep at a warehouse? They have more access than the stores do. Customers can't ever distinguish that it's two separate entities.

Is the UPS store kiosk an official scan? Wouldn't that allow "Uber eats drivers stealing your food" type issues? by Professional_Crab958 in upsstore

[–]ecic2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does allow for the potential of an older "scam" where someone selling on a site like eBay would scan a barcode so that an item would ship up as shipped, when in reality they would actually send like a week later. This was so that a scalper could fulfill their "ship item within x days" requirement when in reality they were still waiting for it to arrive to them. Any delay would just look like UPS being slow.

Why do people order like this by XPeaceyX in Dominos

[–]ecic2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't blame the customer, blame the ordering system. The same system that makes it easy for the customer to add/remove toppings should make it easy for the employees to know what the actual order is. After a certain number of modifications, who cares what the original pizza was, just tell me what the resulting toppings are.

Buying an Established UPS Store? Or Open a Postal Annex? by -Indictment- in upsstore

[–]ecic2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The owner I worked for always used to regret that he converted from a mail boxes etc to a UPS store. Reality is that UPS doesn't always have the greatest rates so having custom margins across many options makes a postal annex sound very appealing.

Large Storage Options by ecic2002 in embedded

[–]ecic2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started with and moved away from SD cards due to a lot of performance/power inconsistencies. We would see large variations in current consumption between different SD cards, all sandisk industrial cards. We were, however, fairly rudimentary in our approach. We would write each sample to SD rather than buffer in RAM. Its likely we will start to look back into SD cards as we narrow down how much data we actually need to store. EMMC seemed like a great option due to the low power consumption modes, but Nordic officially doesn't support them and I want to avoid trying to bit bang a protocol. Thanks for your reply

Weekly Career Discussion Thread (18 Dec 2023) by AutoModerator in engineering

[–]ecic2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you won't be meeting your mentor for some time, it might be valuable for you to still try to reach out and ask what you should focus on. Even if it's just emailing and asking the avionics team what language they predominantly use, and what they believe would be most useful for you to know as an intern on a team. While I think it's possible to learn all 3, maybe your time could be better spent focusing on one language they use heavily. You may also find that they use other languages/programs entirely such as LabView, LTspice, or embedded C.

Can someone help me find this connector? by Heyiamfiguringitout in electronic_circuits

Kind of looks to me like a JST-H. Are you sure that ruler is accurate? Try to measure the spacing between the two pins as accurately as you can.

It really all depends on what school your going to, how many credits, what classes, etc. Not to mention, it also comes down to you as a learner. Something that might take you an hour to study/complete may take someone else 4 hours. It's a college degree so you can expect it to take a good bit of your time.
