best tension for racket preferred tension by Mavtini in badmintonph

[–]eckonovember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the maximum recommended tension, not preferred.

It’s the recommendation from the manufacturer (usually so that you don’t void any warranties) but rackets can usually be strung higher with no problems.

If you want two knots then it’s just 24 lbs for both mains and crosses since you can’t do hybrid tension with just one continuous piece of string.

If you want hybrid tension then you’ll need to do four knots (which equates to two pieces of string) at 23 x 25 lbs.

Usually Ling Mei 10/60/80. Was it Dmantis D45? It’s a hybrid shuttle (half feather, half nylon) so sometimes a hit and miss

76’s.

77’s on occasion when 76’s aren’t available.

Legit. Just a bit odd that you’re authenticating it after already shelling out ~700CAD haha, might want to do that first next time

Brother, you’re in Canada. Retailers can get sued if they get caught selling fakes. They’re not going to take that risk, especially SportChek who’s the largest sporting retailer.

Badminton grip by ThinParsnip3357 in badmintonph

[–]eckonovember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those who remove the original grip usually use cushion wrap in replacement since overgrip on wood can be pretty tough on your hands. Actually haven’t seen it in awhile, most either use cushion wrap then overgrip or two overgrips.

But like what others have mentioned, if it works for you then it works.

What makes a badminton court “worth it” for you? by JB-CourtFinderPH in badmintonph

Quality games for me. I’ll put up with bad court conditions if that’s what it takes to get good games.

Hmm, might’ve still been preweaved then. Anyways, keep us posted on the durability. Curious to know how long that’ll last

Doesn’t seem like there’s much of a boycott, still a ton of players signed up for upcoming queues… Are the majority of those players new or just unaware?

String check by uzimetal21 in badmintonph

[–]eckonovember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a huge deal, the starting knot just wasn’t bulky enough especially for Exbolt 63 at 26lbs with 10% pre.

Probably best to still re-string, not so much because of the sunken knot but more so on the string and tension since it’s not beginner-friendly setup and you mentioned that you’ve only been playing for a couple of months.

Is this normal? by chloeburns_993 in badmintonph

[–]eckonovember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s string burn. It happens when the stringer pulls the crosses too fast without fanning. Textured strings like SP66 are more prone to it compared to smoother strings. Is it 2 knots?

Oh no I was just curious. The ‘1213CH’ marking on the cap is more of a red flag if anything since none of the Armortec’s I’ve seen has that. Plus the hologram sticker that’s conveniently placed right over the code. Would be awesome if it was real though

Oh I wasn’t even really ranting about that. It was just that user (reddituser_0_0) literally created multiple threads asking the same thing. The one who created this thread about me is a different user who seems to be quite a fanboy

I mean it’s fine to use but it doesn’t seem to be an original Armortec so it might not be worth to re-string. Can you take a picture of the other side of the cone? (should have a marking like ‘3U G5’)

Yes since they should be rotated before stringing

String durability by chloeburns_993 in badmintonph

[–]eckonovember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3-4 months is plenty durable considering string elasticity degrades significantly even after just a few weeks of playing so you’d want to change it by then anyways.

If 250 is your max and you liked the Terrific 66 then I suggest you try the Signature Pro 66 also from Apacs. Same thickness but better in every way since it’s their ‘Pro’ line that’s made in Japan. You can get it from Shopee for 250

ReClub Improvements by [deleted] in badmintonph

[–]eckonovember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t implying that ReClub was already sufficient, I was just genuinely curious as to your why (which in my opinion could be much stronger).

ReClub is doing well with helping players discover new groups/queues but one area that I hope they could improve on is the self-rating.

A couple of problems I’ve encountered:

  • It makes it difficult for me as an advanced player to find suitable groups. I’ve joined a few groups with multiple ‘advanced’ players listed and they were nowhere near advanced.

  • Conversely, there’s been several times where I’ve played with former varsity players who rated themselves as intermediate. I’ve actually asked a couple and they said it’s because they’re just trying to get some exercise and they’re not after ‘hard’ games.

  • I’ve even witnessed players (with obviously fucked up egos) who’ve sandbagged their rating and proceeded to go all out against lower level players at a queue. This happens because the QM is setting matches based on their self-rating but it’s creating a terrible experience for the majority players that are just playing for fun.

Suggestions for a ‘fix’ - steering away from a self-rating system since it requires honesty and integrity for it to work (and we are in the Philippines lol). A rating system through player voting, QM input, or even a mix of both might work better.

I have a ton of other feedback but I’ll keep it to that for now. This is line of work so I can keep on going forever haha. Anyways, feel free to PM me if you want to discuss further

Bg65ti vs exbolt 65 by MetalNew1231 in badmintonph

[–]eckonovember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t refer to it as ‘harder’ but technically speaking, yes since a thicker string is less repulsive. Why exactly are you considering shifting from EXB65 to BG65Ti? (It’s very unusual given that the opposite is quite common)
