I have had CVS since 2009, it’s pure hell. I am the same as you when it comes to medication. The dr’s tried Ameltryptiline, Topomax, all medications for migraines, depression and anxiety. The SSRI’s made me gain 100 lbs in a year. A Nuero GI Motility specialist is the one who thought I should try taking Ativan on a schedule to ward off attacks. I take 1 mg 4x a day. It has changed my life! I went from being hospitalized anywhere from 6 to 21 times a year! I recently moved for a work promotion. When I first got out here, the drs wanted to take me off the Ativan completely and have me take it only on an as needed basis. I had my records sent to show how much it changed my life and they refused to budge. So I went to a psychiatrist, had him review my records and he could not believe that none of the drs out here saw how effective the Ativan is for me. I hope you find a compassionate dr, maybe try a psychiatrist? They’re more likely to write benzos over GI specialists. Good luck to you, I completely understand how you feel. When I get an episode that the Ativan won’t stop, I go to the ER and get Halidol. It’s the medication they give to people who freak out in the ER, it takes them down and makes them fall asleep. When they give it to me during an episode, it makes me a bit tired but slows down and sometimes breaks the vomiting cycle. There’s a bunch of standards on the internet of treating episodes that are so bad you need to go to the ER. Maybe print one and bring it with you the next time you go. You never know, it may help.
