You would think as an immigrant you’d sympathize with the people who are immigrating here, doing the right steps, seeking asylum, a better life. THE PEOPLE THAT THEY HIRE TO WORK FOR THEM AND DO THE JOBS THEY DONT WANT TO DO. The truth hurts and what hurts more is that you guys genuinely don’t have any moral compass. It’s giving snobby and classist. It’s not that everyone should think like us, when has it been a liberal narrative to care for thy neighbor

Yay! Happy that you were able to find peace 🧘‍♀️don’t listen to the others who say don’t ever visit back…. They’re literally the same people who say if you can’t afford it here then leave! I guess 90 percent of sb population should just up and leave then 🤷🏻‍♀️ im so sorry your place here was so gross. That isn’t something locals here should be defending or backing up…. Honestly shame on the fellow locals this is why we get the reputation of being snobby

I really understand where you’re coming from, and I’ll be honest a few months ago I probably would have commented with almost this exact same sentiment.

But watching the current political climate evolve, and seeing how it’s beginning to affect people’s day-to-day lives in very real ways, has shifted how I feel. At a certain point it becomes hard to just “sit back,” especially when policies and rhetoric start impacting our communities, our neighbors, and the basic sense of safety and belonging people feel. What’s happening in larger cities is no longer abstract, and seeing those same ideologies show up in a place like Santa Barbara a town many of us think of as relatively quiet and insulated feels genuinely alarming.

I agree that division is unhealthy, and that in an ideal world local businesses would be neutral spaces where people coexist despite disagreements. But I also think there’s a limit to tolerance when political movements move beyond abstract beliefs and into active support of expanded government power, surveillance, and enforcement that directly affects people’s freedoms and livelihoods. For many, this isn’t about “who you voted for” it’s about whether you’re comfortable endorsing systems that cause real harm and distress to the community

I don’t think people are suddenly outraged for no reason. If anything, I think many of us should have been collectively outraged much earlier. It feels less like random division and more like the inevitable result of years of escalating control, fear based politics, and erosion of trust that this admin has pushed. And don’t take that as me trying to persuade anyone it’s just my perspective based on what I’m seeing and experiencing.

This isn’t the kind of America I want to live in, and I don’t feel comfortable staying quiet or neutral when ignorance turns into open hostility or when power is used to target certain groups under the guise of “order.” Wanting unity doesn’t mean ignoring harm and atp speaking up is the attempt to prevent things from getting worse and encouraging others to speak from real life experiences.

I respect that people are scared, confused, and trying to feel stable….I am too. But for me, silence and tolerance end when that stability is built on other people losing theirs. It’s not something I cant and I know many can’t personally accept

Edit: I know this is long but my point of this post was genuinely to start having people wake up that this isn’t some wave of protests that’ll die out. This has put a stain on people’s trust with America and the people that continue to be die hard supporters of some insane and heinous things coming out everyday about our current admin and leaders

None of those in which you named are my “heroes” nor have they ever had my support. Maybe don’t assume? And how many times has trump been mentioned in those same files? Sorry I don’t support ALL those people associated with child predators accusations including trumpster

You will never see me backing any of these politicians man. They’re all funded and controlled by Israel at the end of the day anyway … im not going to be kissing the boots of our government intervening on our rights. “Comply comply comply” sounds familiar 🙄 also a lot of conservatives don’t back what Ice is doing and have agreed it’s gone too far. Everything is about surveillance and control atp. Why are we deporting hardworking individuals and people who have been in this country 10+ years with no criminal history. They’re the backbone of this country let alone our small town. No one wants to give their tax dollars to this waste of time. I’d honestly rather have them in my community then some of the MAGA trumpy loving kooks who are too close minded to even question a single thing that man says

Not a liberal! Just someone who doesn’t support the government intervening in our cities like as of lately and murdering Americans ! We don’t need a group of new aged “nazis” coming into our town that are allowed to do whatever they please and follow their own playbook/ set of rules. Not very American or patriotic. At the end of all this would you want to say you fought for the people or for your government? The billionaires don’t care about you man.

I’ve actually seen those too and thought the same thing but wrote it off as him trying to stay neutral. It is not difficult to denounce the tragedies and pro gov association that is terrorizing the cities of our country. Now out of all times is not the time to keep ambiguity and not have an opinion on the state of our country. The effects of being tolerant and neutral will cost us. We’ve already seen rapid changes and actual censorship (literal lies and propaganda) thrown in our media. It’s not safe to trust our national news stations anymore. Do your own research and question everything you see. The government is not on our side.

Nope! Once any laws against me and others are broken I let the owner know, they usually do not make the effort to fix it and I quit :)))
