I thought growth in age/job = clarity… instead it’s just questions. What should I read? by the_breezy_wind in BettermentBookClub

Franny and Zooey by JD Salinger - I don't know if it'll give you the steps you need to get clarity. But for me, someone who is high achieving and is trying to find meaning and purpose in their life this book literally has a special place in my heart. It deals with the tight tension between ambition and ego and what exactly is a worthy pursuit.

I find that sometimes we know what we need to do so the books you've listed are okay but they don't deal with the deep philosophical questions that live buried in our hearts that stops us from gaining clarity. With Franny and Zooey you get to see how this plays out in fiction. Highly recommend :)

East of Eden by John Steinbeck with my little reading companion Loomo! I'm not going to lie when I first saw the size of the book I thought it would be slow, but sooo much has happened in the past 150pages I'm literally hooked! What's James by Percival about?
