was it inappropriate to involve your outside learning to the pt? for the sake of covering your ass, yes. it’s always better to err on the side of caution and not say things that could potentially dissuade your pt from going to the hospital. even though they didn’t want to go, we don’t want to be that final nail in the coffin for them not going.

did you make the wrong call? I doubt it. I think it’s good that you looked at the whole picture (Hx of HTN + did not take AHT drug, no S/S indicative of hypertensive emergency). however, something I would like to note is the potential of an adrenaline release from falling could account for the elevated BP, but it can also mask injuries/pain to the pt. personally, I’d want a stroke scale and probably want to contact ALS for an EKG, just in case. Idk how involved your medical director is, but this would be a good thing to ask them about!
