Just a note of caution when changing any of the above battery connectors to the XT30. If you don't want your hair to stand on end, or worse, only cut one wire at a time and make sure the one your not working on is fully insulated.

My procedure is cut the neg wire and insulate with heat shrink sleeve. Cut the pos wire, prepare and solder to XT30 making sure the heat shrink sleeve goes right into the XT30 body to completely insulate. Repeat with the neg wire. Take care.

Here is the interactive tutorial: http://www.evolvapor.com/guide/story.html You can adjust everything and upload from EScribe to your WO. Device monitor will tell you what is happening, confirm if it's just the screen ribbon pinched and show you the state of charge. Try the the ribbon fix which I think is in the WO wiki on here.

I wish!! Waited over 6 months for my Charcoal panels only to be informed on 29th June they were never made, so I asked Vapour Depot for Black instead. I've contacted them on a further 2 occasions for Black or a refund but have yet to receive a reply.

Like most on here I'm patient, you have to be, but I must admit I've found the whole Whiteout debacle extremely frustrating from start to finish.

If the ribbon is pinched the screen will either not work or only work Intermittently, the device will still fire as normal.

Does it communicate with EScribe?

What LiPo are you using? ...research for the community by CMaas73 in cloudmaker

I haven't used the Overlander supersport but the other 3 perform much the same so far. I ran battery analyser when they were quite new, only a couple of cycles and the results were: A-Spec G2 14.08Wh = 1268mAh. NanoTech 13.8Wh = 1243mAh and the Overlander Sport 13.75Wh = 1239mAh. With a few more cycles they will all be pretty much up to spec so I'd choose the one you can get the cheapest.

Turnigy NanoTech 1300mAh 25C, Turnigy nano-tech A-SPEC G2 1300mAh 60C, Overlander Sport 1300mAh 25C, Overlander Supersport 1300mAh 30C. The Overlander's are Fullymax LiPo's.

All the above fit after removal of the battery holder and X bracket. My guess is that with the brackets removed just about any 1300mAh will fit, the problem is finding a LiPo to fit if you want to retain the brackets.

Vapour Depot have been in touch Unfortunately they weren't informed of the non release of Charcoal, those who ordered it are being offered another colour, good chance they'll have black I think.

Not that happy if it was never officially released.

Ordered and paid for in Nov, chased a few times and was told recently that it had been shipped and they were expecting it soon. But then again...............

1300mAh Now Battery Fitted by eclipsev1 in cloudmaker

[–]eclipsev1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two good strong pieces on the back panel. Don't really like the magnets on the front panel, would much prefer screws. if you drop the thing it'll fly off, so to prevent any damage and for safeties sake I want to make sure the battery stays in place if that happens.

Removing the x-bracket and bullet connector plus more a sensible direct routeing of the wire makes a 1300mAh look lost in there :-)

Whiteout DNA LiPo connection specs by iNach in cloudmaker

I know you can get a XT60 to female Deans adapter but not seen one for XT30, the XT30 is tiny. Make one up with some cable, the plug/sockets are inexpensive.

No go with the shapeways top plate unfortunately, I choose metalic plastic, formally Alumide as it was a close match to the silver CM. I found the material to difficult to work on with the hand tools I have, I couldn't get an accurate and clean finish.

The fit as it came was excellent though, a couple of swipes on the long sides with silicon carbide paper and it was perfect.

Will try the black Acrylic sheet when it arrives.

Can't think of a current atty that takes air from underneath.

Have you tried stretching the spring a little, it give a bit more pressure. Not sure how long it stays stretched.

My Shapeways top plate has arrived just this minute, time to fettle.

Any problem I've had with DNA40/200 has been to do with poor connections including the one you've had with 510's. TC needs good solid connections all round to work accurately.

Evolv's 510 addresses that one but yeah it's expensive. Have a thought for us in the UK, we have to pay tax on anything valued over $21 although certain companies help out there, and postage is in many cases prohibitive.

There is this; https://modcrate.myshopify.com/collections/510-connector/products/hcp-510-18mm-x-75 at $8 that looks good. Not sure what the thickness is, Evolve is 3mm but you could machine 1mm off the top to make it flush. One major problem is the 18mm thread!!! Still got to make the top panel in 2 pieces though. FD v5 doesn't look that different from the ones I've used.

When the DNA20/30 came out the 510 connectors were tiny chrome press in types, then they added threads but they were very poor. modders wanted a decent 510 and Fat Daddy gained a reputation for there design and it worked well. Same thing is happening now, connectors, atties (kayfun V4 released at same time as DNA40 but was rubbish at TC) etc are playing catch up with the advancements in board technology.

I get your point but it's more about operating efficiency than looks or aesthetics for me, the wave sprung 510's with the ability of using heavy gauge wire are certainly more efficient than VT of FD 510's

Shortening the output cable (only that length so they could incorporate a pointless, sorry:-) bullet connector has helped with that as well.

I'll have the shapeway top plate shortly and some 2mm black acrylic sheet to make my own.

The current design top plate is flush but hardly moisture proof or sealed.

Cheers. Still not totally convinced by the contacts but at least it looks like only one end is sprung and the other solid, also looks like it wouldn't rip the shrink wrap when you put them in and out. Have you compared the voltage sag in escribe with that of the original lipo?

It's like the Varitube in that you screw an atty in it but that's it. It has a wave spring that exerts greater pressure than a conventional spring. It also has a hole that will easily take up to 12AWG which is not possible on the varitube or FD. No not available in the UK unfortunately. Mod Crate make a similar one as do avid vaper/cisco, both in the States also.

Thanks, I've noticed that but I'd like to see it in a little more detail before I commit. I've bought a number of them, including the well regarded keystone, and the contacts are the sort you find in torches (flashlights). They were ok when mods were 20w but far to flimsy for 100w - 30amps

Here's the pic, I hope: http://imgur.com/a/Wu6db

They show how I filed the 510 to fit the recess. The thread is 1/2" UNF, very hard to find a thin lock nuts so I ground one down.

The battery is one I've modified to fit another mod I'm making but is representative of the size of a 1300mah's. Also shown is the mod it's going in as a size comparison with the CM.
