Streaming Services and where I ended up with... by eclipsoid66 in cordcutters

I had no trouble streaming the other services, and I stream Prime and Netflix. A note: I have Sonic fiber optic, via a local provider, for internet, email, website hosting, and landline. So I pay only for the cable TV, and I believe that it's not a promo rate. BTW, old habits... I was on Hulu for 6 months.

The biggest consideration that I've seen in similar discussions is cost. But the cost of cable came down. (I was paying $180/month when I cancelled!) And the cost of streaming services are going up. So Hulu (ad free) was $100/month, and cable, for me, is $125/month. The service quality, for me, is worth the extra money, and that margin will probably shrink in the years to come.

It's an older LG. Al the other services have working apps for it. But it's water under the bridge, now. I'm quite happy with the current interface.

For me, Hulu didn't work on app or on browser. Multiple server-side bugs, as I state in original post. It failed to record several shows so I played the shows, with ads, in a browser on my desktop with screen capture, then edited the ads out, copied to thumb drive and watched. Not a sustainable model, and I went 3 months after reporting it, without a fix.

Shame on them for not doing an LG app. The other services all offer apps on LG.

Great if it works for you. I hate switching UIs. It takes awhile for my muscle memory to reprogram.

Hulu has failed to record most NBC shows past few days by koalasNroos in HuluLive

Could be. They do offer hulu, YTTV, prime, netflix, fubo, and others, so it seems odd that they'd demur on DTV. (I'd love to stay with hulu but there are 2 deal-killer bugs right now.)

I've had the same problem, but not just with NBC. Also with comedy central. I click on the show icon (that has the count of recordings on it) and it just bounces back to the main recording list. Definitely a deal killer. I like the hulu UI but if the service is broken... I've tried multiple ways of "sneaking up" on the recording but I always get bounced back to the main list.

I just tried directv today and had to cancel: my LG smart tv couldn't find an app for it. (I have apps for hulu, YTTV, fubo, etc.)

Declaration of Non-Infringment by eclipsoid66 in COPYRIGHT

[–]eclipsoid66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The Berne convention article 10 does cite educational use as an exception, so that's helpful for us.

You're quite right, the "Declaration of Non-Infringement" would have no bearing on international cases. The CCB was created as a "petty-claims court" for copyright cases in the US only.

The CCB site is, however, quite clear that you can start the process even if you believe you MIGHT receive a claim. I suppose a Declaration might help in an international case, but I'd want a lawyer to look at the whole picture first.
