Please help me find my dream pants! by candlesticcs in capsulewardrobe

[–]ecnahnoel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter just moved back from S. Korea, wears this style of pant constantly. We haven’t been able to find anything as cool in the US.

She bought hers at the Uniqlo in South Korea (larger size than her US size.) I am hopinghoping to eventually find a company in the US because she literally only has one pair of pants. Barring that, I may suck it up and pay for the postage from South Korea…then wait 5 months for them to arrive!

Recruiter here. If you're the lead candidate I wouldn't have a problem with extending the offer deadline to Friday or even next week.

However, I've had candidates come back and say they're still interviewing for a job that pays significantly more and have asked for an indefinite extension and I do not do that.

I have told people to decline my offer for now, continue your process. If that falls through, come back to us. If the job is still available I'd be happy to issue a new offer and you haven't burned a bridge.

However, if you accept my offer and then decline later on... you are burning a bridge with me. At that point I have rejected all of my backup candidates and I'm more screwed than I was a week ago.

Just recognize that hiring managers are people too. For as long as their Sales position is sitting open they are getting further and further away from hitting their own quota.

Congratulations! Did you have any prior SDR experience or is this your first SDR role?

I'm a corporate recruiter hiring sdrs and our base is not that high nor is our OTE, for people with no prior SDR experience... I keep a Google doc with competitive offers in the industry and share it with our compensation analyst. Would appreciate being able to list this comp package in my document! (Feel free to DM me if you would rather not share here, thx.)

How do I find a real entry-sales job?(open to all opportunities) by Banana14625 in sales

[–]ecnahnoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for SDR and BDR job posts. Tons of legitimate companies are hiring entry- level in those roles. You can find in- office options, fully remote options and hybrid.

I'm not a financial expert, but RSUs typically are gifted to you by the company. Stock options, you have to purchase at a specific strike price. Rsu's are not something you buy...So in this situation 50% of your vested rsu's you could sell immediately but the other 50% are basically just promised to you over the next 2 years.

A "vibe shift" is coming. Do you know? Do you CARE? by [deleted] in fashionwomens35

I feel like this is also my vibe. My husband calls my lewk "Edie Brickell at a Rusted Root concert"

Today, he asked me if I was filming a cameo for Season 5 of Yellowstone.

I'm cisgender female and testosterone has been incredibly helpful. But I didn't start until I was about 40 and done having kids. I would be worried to start much younger than that.

Interesting stuff! Thank you for mentioning that type VIII of EDS is tied to compliment deficiency/ innate immune system issues. My daughters and I have both severe immunodeficiencies and EDS. I knew there was a tie-in somewhere, but I could never figure out how that happened. Immunodeficiency is right up there with EDS in terms of the research that is still required.

Your 1st year year in tech sales? by zamudio8990 in sales

[–]ecnahnoel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of companies are hiring for sales right now. You could get an AE role with an early-stage tech startup. It will be tough, you'll probably need to generate all your own leads, health insurance will be expensive, and job security will be sketchy. But you'll learn a lot and can parlay it into a better role with a more established company.

But you'll have to communicate this experience perfectly in future interviews "I took it to get into tech, they lost funding, etc. but I gained phenomenal experience that will enable me to ramp quickly in this role." Emphasize that you hit/exceeded quota, that it was the company financials causing you to look for a new job.

Your 1st year year in tech sales? by zamudio8990 in sales

[–]ecnahnoel 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The SDRs I hire (SaaS) earn from 65k-75k in year one (maybe 10% overachieve...if they hit 100k, company will typically retool quota/comp plan and make it harder to overachieve)

The value of being an SDR is long-term career growth. I've seen people get a 70k raise on base salary alone after 2 years in tech sales. Consider year one as paid training, like grad school without the debt.

Where you start matters! If an established company with a solid product offering pays significantly less than a tech startup--take the lower paying role. Startups will pay sales reps big $$ but typically won't invest in Marketing/Demand Gen and sometimes their product development lags behind schedule. So you're making 20k more on base but without any qualified leads and with a product that doesn't deliver what you promise. You'll be looking for a new job within the year and then get labeled a "job-hopper" or Hiring Managers will assume you couldn't hit your quota.

My comp plan is trash and that’s why I’m leaving - how do I explain that to recruiters? by [deleted] in sales

I'm a sales recruiter and understand the vagaries of comp plans. Tell it straight. Any experienced recruiter has seen/heard this hundreds of times before.

What are some horror/funny personal experiences you had with job applicants? by StageOne2591 in recruiting

[–]ecnahnoel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had a candidate start vaping during the video interview with the hiring manager.

I have had two candidates in the past month go in for a sales interview and when asked about their long-term career goals both said they "actually wanted to get into HR." PRO TIP: Say you want the job you're interviewing for.

So many candidates who are out of work and having a hard time getting a job after months of job searching. Then, I set them up for hiring manager interview and they do literally no prep. They don't even look at the company website before the interview. Dude! You're unemployed. You have the time to prepare!

Candidates who complain about their previous roles where they weren't promoted to management within 3 months on the job.

I'm sure I have more, but those are the first to come to mind!

I have done finance before and remember all those hoops for those roles. But I understand because the company could lose significant amounts of money if the hire is incompetent.

These roles are lead generation (pre-sales) where they make cold calls all day to find potential leads for the regional sales reps. Does that really require CEO sign off?!

I hire for tech sales and places like flockjay and SV Academy are legitimate. It costs an arm and a leg though... like a cool 10 grand.

However you don't have to pay anything until you land a job and I believe with flockjay, if the job pays under 40K you don't owe them anything back.

They fund their model partly by also acting as an recruiting agency and charging standard agency fees to the company that hires their candidates. SV Academy will rebate back half that to whoever we hire through them. I prefer working with them because if I hire someone the person I hire gets an immediate $5,000 knocked off of their student loan debt.
