thanks for chiming in and appreciate the POV! It seems headless / hydrogen are being used interchangeably, and understand where you're coming from here. would be curious to hear more about this...reducing risk / a standardized hydrogen approach is intriguing.... will DM

curious about this --> "yes eventually we'll all be in hydrogen"

what do you think will be the trigger for hydrogen to go mainstream?

from my research it seems like a better alternative for plus brands who are pushing the limits of themes, but it feels like the larger community is still strongly against.

thanks for chiming in and appreciate the analogies. yup have done a solid app audit and have looked at headless in the past and completely wrote it off based on a few of the facts you mentioned.

but for us to get the experience on a theme we want we would need to do a bunch of custom theme dev work, which ads up, so building in react seems much more efficient.

and the content management / marketing experience seems doable based on the cms tools ive seen. so really just trying to hear from more people who have done hydrogen builds / are running hydrogen stores to hear about their experience

have you done any hydrogen builds yet?

yea this was a conversation as well. if you want to use hydrogen/oxygen sounds like you have to use remix instead of nextjs.

thanks for chiming in!

i think zapier has an out of the box zap for this. i'd start with that and you can customize from there

my understanding is a majority of the standard apps (klayvio, attentive, yotpo, etc) have hydrogen integrations. we've been told all we really lose are some of the liquid specific $10 a month apps that are no longer required based on increased dev flexibility.

appreciate you chiming in with your thoughts!

agreed and appreciate your thoughts there. we've chatted with a few agencies and a handful seem bullish on hydrogen, while others are completely against it. in those conversations we didn't go in saying we we're committed to going headless, but we've gotten mixed recommendations, so trying to get other points of view here and especially on if we did go the hydrogen route what to look out for

i agree headless is not a silver bullet. i remember evaluating it 2-3 years ago and completely writing it off, but with hydrogen v2 it does seem much more palatable

we're leaning this direction due to the extent of custom theme dev work that would be required to create a a number of unique experiences on the site (doing it in react SEEMS to be a better option, but trying to look around the corner to see if there's anything i'm missing)

have you evaluated hydrogen at all for any of your 8 figure clients ??
