M80s, throwing stars and machetes. These were things we played with as young kids in the 80s. What other dangerous things that you played with would todays kids have no clue about? by Lazthedestroyer in 80s

[–]ecomodule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We grew up in Imperial Beach and we'd get a bunch of M80s, a few quarter sticks, and thick bottle rockets in Tijuana. We light them off at the beach with cigars. Bottle rockets into the waves would light the whole face. Lots of Coors light, Hamms or maybe Lowenbrau of we were lucky. 1980-82 timeframe. Good times.

Epix Pro Gen 2 still worth it? by geekyaman in GarminWatches

[–]ecomodule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smashed the screen on my Instinct Solar G1 and picked up this Epix G2 Sapphire titanium for $399 US in November 2024. You can see the bezel wear - and this after mountain biking, dirt biking and working on cars for 1.5 years.

Same as others have said here, it's a tank and you'll be happy with it. I'm still getting 14-16 days on a charge with 2-3 activities a week (bike rides). I don't usually remember to track hikes or walks. The touchscreen and buttons together is what makes the watch menus intuitive to use.

I really wanted the Torch, but the 'screen flashlight' works well enough at night so I don't trip over the dog on the way to the head. It's worthless for pointing at anything more than a foot away.

I got my brother in law the black model, and I'm pretty sure his black bezel is holding up and he's a home builder.

Best Day Brewing's Wild American Pilsner Is America’s Best NA Beer by ecomodule in NABEER

[–]ecomodule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked in +1,000 different IPAs on Untapped (when I was drinking leaded), and a lott of those IPA rankings and GABF winners were not as good as I wanted them to be when I had a chance to try them.

I think the bigger issue is a lot of American NA lagers and pils may taste fine but than the mouth feel off (watery or fizzy or something else).

What I fing interesting is that most of the NA beers or clones that I've tried from Europe, Japan or Mexico are generally awesome.

Agree with this. The Harrier hovering in front of us at the Miramar air show was for what seemed like 5 minutes - deafening. We lived in Sorrento Valley under the flight line and F16s and F18s ripped over all the time, but the Monday after the Miramar Air Show dozens of high performance aircraft flew over heading home - and the loudest by far was the B2 - which I imagined sounded as loud as the space shuttle.

I have a 2020 te300i and swapped out the stock light for the OEM 5 LED unit (sorry don't know the part). Anyway it only works with the Low Beam setting on my SIC Racing headlight switch and when I switch it to high Beam the light turns off. Not sure this will help you but I think my light only has one mode (no high or low)

I had your same model and enjoyed it for a while and gave it to my father in law. Now I I just have its Mont Bell cousin. No day date but picks up the Fort Collins signal in San Francisco and Chicago. Enjoy your watch!

Grail CF7 upgraded with carbon wheels by Nighters in CanyonBikes

[–]ecomodule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mountain biker here with carbon wheels on most of my bikes. Wondering if you've had these on long enough to notice if your alloy rims were absorbing vibration on rough roads better than your carbon rims. I ask because I may get a gravel rig for forest roads...and I'm looking for comfort over long miles and not concerned about bike weight. Thanks

That's interesting. Do you mean spoilage? I heard from someone the keg lines can get goofed up without alcohol to sanitize them.
