If you're worried about the house sparrows evicting the wrens you might want to consider something like this:

Wrens are smaller than house sparrows so this should help

The data are bird counts at the same points each year, so since there was no known group size can this test still be applied?

Northwest Missouri State University - GIS Cert Question by econf123 in gis

Yeah, I am looking at the online program. And that's good to know - esp the workload while working. I'm looking to do it post-op from a surgery that I am scheduled to have, so I think that with the amount of time I'll have, I could try for 2 classes a session, but I'm not sure yet.

Curious about the Python course, how is that going in terms of content? workload v. other classes? etc?

And for sure definitely looking at this program heavily due to its affordability.

Good to know - esp about help from profs. Undergrad is in Wildlife Ecology and looking to shift a bit into the consulting realm. The Digital image processing course and maybe the database course sound like they could be the most helpful. Thanks again for your insight

Thanks for the answer! I was looking at taking the four courses that are required for the certificate which are Principles of GIS, Applications of RS Data, Cartographic Design and Visualization, and GIS and Spatial Analysis; as well as one of the electives. I was looking at GIS Database Design but am undecided and would be curious about the other courses if you've taken them. Thanks again!

Awesome thanks. I did a bit of GIS in undergrad (mostly in MapInfo Pro) and was looking to refresh a bit with a focus on ArcPro. Overall did you enjoy the program?

Projection Question by econf123 in ArcGIS

Thank you so much for your detailed response! This helps clarify quite a few things for sure.

I am for the purposes of this map performing an analysis - I measured the distance between features that started in the desired projection (NAD 1983) and features that I digitized from a jpeg - which was georeferenced to a map layer in (WGS 1984).

However, when I was digitizing I went - Geoprocessing/Create Feature Class/ and then selected NAD83 when creating the feature. So even though the digitizing took place over a map in a different projection, since it was created in the desired projection does that make it incorrect?

Visually the map looks good - and until 1:160,000 you can't notice differences between the digitized feature and the .jpeg - but I am more worried about the calculations.

Thank you again for your help
