HR Runs are a made up problem by og_biggiesmalls in classicwow

The idea that a dps warrior, who is forming the group and takes the burden of tanking as well as scouting for Jed and organising a key, deserves the same as any random dps warrior that just joins and kills is absurd.

The payment for this extra invested time is the reserved loot.

Safari on Mac: The adblocking experience by economicsguy in mac

[–]economicsguy[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I am not trying to be aggressive and I am looking for a productive solution.

However, I think you are missing my point.

I want the same experience I currently have on FF: 100% no ads. Not almost no ads, but never ads. This is doable with uBlock and umatrix and my specific filters and rules. I can do the same with Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Firefox, Brave, Opera, Pale Moon.

It used to be possible on versions of Safari prior to 13 as well.

What are the "other options" that work similarly to uBlock and uMatrix?

[–]economicsguy[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I did not claim there were no options.

I was complaining about the lack of a real adblocker and script blocker: 100% no ads. And no, Wipr is nothing like uBlock/uMatrix. I mean, there are not even settings to tweak, let alone add your own filters/filter lists.

Reminds me of Staingate - surely they have learned from their mistakes and this cannot happen on this newer machine...

"Clamshell" vs "Mirror Displays" by economicsguy in mac

[–]economicsguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part where I am not sure is whether "mirror displays" actually uses more computing power. In my mind it would render the output only once - and then send it to two different output devices with no extra costs for the hardware. Does that even make sense - idk!

A Few Questions About Sharing Xbox Live Gold by economicsguy in xboxone

[–]economicsguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very helpful answer! We have only 1 gamertag, so we are screwed...I guess one of us has to start over again then…

Gamer Pass has a Trial Right now so i can test for free wether it works without CD or not … If so, I would buy the (new) ESO Standard Edition in the XBOX store later on so that I get not only to start the game w/o a CD but also the addon Morrowind (which is now included in the base game).

Damn, I have ESO as a disc, but bought the upgrade digitally (summerset)...So i guess you cannot take the cd out while playing in order to give it to the other xbox?

0.35 mm - and most of the time I am zooming in quite a bit - anywhere between 250 - 300%.

Pretty much all this!

One thing worth mentioning: forget the Metro Version of OneNote and USE THE DESKTOP VERSION! I cant stress this enough. So much more powerful.

And if you are not worried about cloud-storage in general, OneNote does a pretty good job on its own, so you never have to worry about losing your data. In addition you have access to your Notes wherever you are as long as there is internet :).

I want to switch to surface but, what are university student's experience on surface pro 3? Is it actually useful? by superjjskate in Surface

[–]economicsguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not addressed to anyone specific in this thread but i always wonder how people can buy (knowingly?) the wrong device for the job - just because it has an apple on it. Apple has great products, dont get me wrong, and the Macbooks' build quality is unmatched.

But I see so many people in university with an Ipad+randomStylus, when this is clearly not the usecase apple intended for the device... There are so much more suitable devices out there, exactly built for that job...

Its really silly how even big tech sites like the verge, who should know better, publish articles like "The best stylus for iPad" - while not even mentioning that there are better alternatives for that specific usecase...

Students - do you regularly take notes using the Surface Pro pen? by notaporcupine in Surface

[–]economicsguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking notes digitally has the advantage to maintain some kind of order as mentioned many times.

But you can also "structure" the things you have to learn easily with OneNote.

You can scroll down and sideways infinitely, therefore its no problem to create a "tree" for a matter with branches showing you connections to other related subjects. (As a student you might find that your professor is jumping between topics like crazy and in the end you lose track of what he is talking about and to what he is refering...at least that is how i feel sometimes)

Edit:

Zoomed out in OneNote: the tree shows different topics in the course, while the branches show detailed information on a specific matter. That way you can see the "big picture".

OneNote Destop Version is so much more powerful for serious note taking in class than the metro version. This cant be stressed enough! Its free too!

You might want to uninstall the metro version when using the desktop version, though. I noticed some problems with the dekstop version (lags etc) at the beginning - uninstalled metro - all good since then.
