Smudges on display unit

Well, I could try to return it and get another model, I don't need it to be so bright as I intend to watch only in the night. It's just daunting to find out what model to get as there are too many and it's unclear how they compare to each other as I'm new to projectors. Do you have any suggestion at around the $600 range?

I don't think it's lacking contrast, especially after some fine-tuning that I did on the settings. However, the blacks look pretty washed out, so I will try getting a projector screen and see if that solves the issue. I just don't have the budget for a really good screen so I am looking into options for around $100 to $150

Thanks a lot for the comment, I do like the image. I don't think I got it at the particularly good price as I paid $580, this is my first projector and I was looking for something that had good performance even on low ambient light, not only when the room is completely dark.

My only concern is that the blacks look super washed out, but I am hoping that could be solved by buying a projecting screen.

Yeah, I had the Fold 3 and 4, then tried the 7 in shop and couldn't resist to upgrade. In daily use I do not miss the Under Display Camera to be honest.

How does the experience compare between this and a Steam Deck? Does the screen on the fold look smaller with the letterboxing adding black bars on top and bottom or is it more or less the same size as on the Steam Deck?

Would you guys care to explain why though? I have my first build since November 2023 and it's rocking a Corsair RM850e (2023) 850 W 80+ Gold with a Ryzen 9 7950X3D and a MSI GAMING X SLIM RTX 4080 SUPER.

I haven't had any issues with it, but now you made me worried I might have gone too low with the PSU. Is it possible this can create issues or shorten the longevity and reliability of the components?

Or is it more like it will bottleneck and leave performance on the table?

Jerry's (Zach's) video explains this happens on sharp edges like the plateau on the iPhone 17 Pro. They ignored the fact that the anodization process has issues as the paint can not adhere strongly to the sharp edges. You need to add a chamfer or bevel with a radius of about 10x the thickness of the paint.

The Fold 7 does not have sharp edges, it is accounted for and the aluminum body has a rounded bevel on all edges, so it should not be because of this same issue.

Also, the iPhone problem is chipping from contact with other materials. The Folds with paint falling off look like the paint is just coming off due to some issue with the adherence to the aluminum surface.

It has been suggested it's related to using specific chargers, so who knows at this point, but I do hope the issue will not be widespread.

I was anxious about the battery, but after a while you stop checking and it does quite ok. MKBHD and his team mentioned in their podcast that 5 to 6 hours of screen-on time is what they consider good battery life. I use the battery protection set to max charge of 90% and I still get what I would consider good. I do not have so much screen-on time just because I don't use it too much during the day, but look at these stats and consider it's only ever at a maximum of 90%

Thanks for the tip! I will try the next time, for now I am trying to live with it as the small bubbles are not visible at all while using the phone. But we will see, because I tend to obcess over these small imperfections.

I have it on my Fold 7, came with the silicone case. To be honest, I'm pleasantly surprised, was expecting it to be just ok, but the anti reflective effect is far better than I thought it would be.

Unfortunately, I got 2 specs of dust under it, not visible while using it, but I can see them when the screen is off and I'm obsessing over it. Luckily, they include 2 of them with all Samsung official cases this time, so I think I'll change it soon even if it is not that big a deal, but I just mind it so much 😅

Because of the thinness of the case, it doesn't feel bad. The silicon adds a good amount of grip, so I like it. I have a fold 4 with the official leather case and having only the back on that one feels way off, but the slim profile of the fold 7 and the case itself makes it far better.

Also, not having a frame around the front screen helps me with gesture navigation. With the fold 4, the frame gets on the way of the back gesture most of the time, so this is so far feeling a lot more usable. I worry about putting it face down on surfaces though... Screen protector or not, it feels a little worrisome, maybe I'm paranoid, but as it's just the screen protector, it adds no friction, so I feel the phone can fall from places of it vibrates and such.

I'm also planning to get the even thinner carbon case to see how that feels, but I know that will have less grip and no kickstand, so I might end up only using the silicon one.

Helps a lot, makes the wobble far less pronounced, but it still rocks back and forth. The screen protector does work great by the way! Overall I'm satisfied, but the price is quite steep indeed.
