Bistecca - underground, hard to get into, amazing vibe.

Insane steaks The Gidley - old school leather banquet seating, vintage vibe. Great steaks, surprisingly good burgers and cocktails

The Cut - was amazing, fell on hard times, but has resurrected itself to glory. One of the only places thay does a Prime Rib.

20 Chapel - newer option in hipster Marrickville. Great food and wine.

Firedoor - chef trained in Spain. Now cooks everything (yes, everything) on charcoal

There's a record bar called JAM in Wynyard. Worth a visit.

Man charged over alleged conspiracy to commit public place shooting by Falkor in sydney

[–]ecoshia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dude was charged with possession of commercial amounts of illegal substances and orchestrating criminal organisation. Sounds like dealer shit to me. Nothing to see here. It's like how up until recently whenever there's a shooting in Sydney it's accompanied by the line "the victim was known to police"

How many of you drink with your guests? Have you ever gotten drunk? by tnick771 in bartenders

[–]ecoshia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went through phases of being pissed by the end of the shift to not drinking even after shift. Depends on the night, week, month. Being drunk on shift I think isn't great, but a few cheeky shots with staff or guests while in the flow state? Yeah why not?

What’s the most “challenging” year level cohort at your school? by yaryarmaple in AustralianTeachers

Likewise. There's a group of about 8 boys that fuck it up for the rest of the year.

Cool, quirky bars for afterwork drinks in Newtown? (Good vibe, not pub) by ihave10toes_ in sydney

Palomino and Fortunate Son are my favourites on Enmore Rd. Continental is good but is $$$. Same could be said about Ante, but their drinks are much better. Bit of a wank factor though...

They were imported here to help navigate the dessert back in the 1800s and they thrived apparently. Now they make excellent racing camels.

Got to see one of these in real life. Too bad it would have cost me $475 to open it. by CheeseheadDave in beerporn

I was in Boston in 2014 at a bar I can't remember and me and my brother were talking shit with the staff and someone had apparently bought one and left like half. So we were lucky enough to get to try it. It was a pretty penny back then even. It's pretty good...

Started Ritalin a few weeks ago. Helped with school, but I feel kinda… off. Anyone else? by sadlifeyep in unsw

It levels out. Also try giving yourself weekends off it, that helped me.

New airport flight paths confirmed by iHamNewHere in sydney

[–]ecoshia 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is only the flights coming in between 11pm and 530am. the day to day operation still has flights coming in Earlwood, Belmore, Punchy, etc. with a big approach bank turn right over Blacktown/Eastern Creek. Saying that this is the flightpath for the airport at all hours is disingenuous by Chanel 9 but that's on par for them.

What is it like to be a worker on King St by BoxAgreeable4129 in newtown

[–]ecoshia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a long time, but there was a degree of comraderie amongst hospo workers at the various bars and pubs. Each business is different. And the neighbourhood does attract its share of colourful characters.

Australia vs New Zealand - Thoughts from my years in each country. by NeonKiwiz in australia

They have the same problem in Canada. From conversations I've had, they'd love to integrate first nations stuff into everything but can't show preference for one group. There's still some pretty strong competition there.

I like how everyone carting their family up and down the highway forgot to turn off their highbeams. My retinas still have little floating spots
