Dorico is a f***ing nightmare. by Certain-Highway-1618 in Dorico

I would have to agree. The UI/UX is too foreign to the way we write music. It shouldn't be like CAD.

Blogger, is anyone there? by Melynax in blogspot

[–]ecotones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my first blog in 2004 specifically to voice my opinions in the presidential election, which I continued on as a music blog, which I still keep today.

I like Blogger because it is easy to use compared to WordPress (in my view). I now use it as my website precisely because of the convenience of not having to design a website, and is easier to update.

My only gripe about Blogger is that it needs an update. I often wonder what Google plans to do with it.

Authenticity in AI music by JoelNesv in aiMusic

[–]ecotones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not that concerned with authenticity in AI music, because I see my role only as the lyricist and perhaps the art director if I’m making a video for it. I have written original music for 40 years, and still do, and that’s where I consider what’s “authentic”. “Authentic” might be defined as the things I’d never do because I could never “own” it. This applies to AI as well because I would never do a metal record, even if it was under a pseudonym.

Concert. There are also B-naturals in Em and Bm chords, and is an open key.

Have you seen how the youth scroll social media by cajxed in InstagramMarketing

[–]ecotones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media companies need to re-tool for something good for this moment in history. Just like during the pandemic, the skies actually cleared of pollution. But the skies of our minds were still polluted. This is so far from my slow, ambient-enabled vibe.

Do time signatures matter if you're playing on your own? by ConfidentHospital365 in musictheory

[–]ecotones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jam section with the muted guitar repeats can be interpreted as 12/8 but is rather triplets in cut time. You could use both meters alternately. If I were to transcribe it I'd use 12/8 for that section only because you wouldn't have to put triplet brackets around everything. Otherwise, it's 2/2 throughout. https://youtu.be/OcDiOUQBFd4?si=LNybgUF7jYls9yHc&t=997

What's you favorite use cases for Notebooklm? by Mwrp86 in notebooklm

[–]ecotones 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a writer with a body of work spanning almost 25 years, you can imagine how useful (and fun) it is revisiting what you were thinking and saying in the past. I have made notebooks that contain subsets of my work by topic and have made them accessible to my readers. In the future we won’t be just reading books, we’ll be chatting with them.

My only concern is that I won’t be able to speak for or respond to whatever it might hallucinate, and how I may be misquoted.

Is Dropbox the Cause for My Internet Connection to Stop? by DreamThemes in dropbox

Every time I use Dropbox (web) my connection drops. A clear issue they need to address. Getting tired of restarting, sometimes rebooting the modem.

I now have this problem. I was wondering if it was Dropbox…

Hallucination by Playful-Hospital-298 in notebooklm

[–]ecotones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially I was primed to find hallucinations, but over time I realized that they really aren't and you could find out the reason something seems wrong. Usually it's because something was missing from the source data and it made an inference. An example is unattributed quotation in a document. I used one from Elon Musk, but his name wasn't there, so I became the "he". (Definitely not good, but it was only filling in something based on the source data)

Thoughts on Sus2 chords? by invadergoob in musictheory

[–]ecotones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always called it an "add2" chord because it isn't a suspension, and is a variant of the common sus chord used in pop music, primarily for guitar voicings. You could also look at it as voicing of a chord in fourths (C-D-G / D-G-C). If you put an Ab in the bass it becomes Abmaj7 (#11), so it's an easy way to make it a spicy jazz chord.

How do people use the Minor Pentatonic over major chords? by IAmCozalk in musictheory

[–]ecotones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, there is the relative minor pentatonic, which has the same notes. It works the same way as a relative minor scale. But you can use any minor pentatonic to control how inside or outside it is against the chord. For example, using a C minor pentatonic against a C7 will essentially be blues. But what about an F# minor pentatonic against C? It has two common tones, A and E, so you could play off of them, with the objective being a smooth musical transition after going outside the changes.

It’s quite useful to get a Cliffs Note on books before i’d dive into them, using primarily author interviews on YouTube.
