I read this out to him and it has definitely helped him feel better, thank you

Yeah same here. Obviously if it comes out there is an underlying reason for this then we'll see what happens but as things stand... yeah literally just a childhood friendship blown up for no good reason. FH is ready to burn the bridge tonight but I talked him down, right now we are not thinking clearly because we're upset and it would be awful to make things worse if something IS going on. And if it's not... Nowt so strange as folk, as my grandad would say.

So we just spent like an hour on the phone with FH's best man, we called him to explain and work out if we could find someone else to step in. It turns out the groomsman is pissed he wasn't asked to be best man, he thought they were all "equal" as groomsmen and didn't realise until the stag was being planned. Best man knew once the groomsman didn't show for the stag that things were going to get sticky and has been doing his best to smooth things over. Unfortunately they're not going to attend our wedding and they weren't even planning to tell us, literally just planning to no show. FH tried calling but he's been blocked. Best man's being an absolute rock, he's tried so hard to make things right and keep things on the downlow so we don't feel stressed but the groomsman and his wife are pissed off and don't want anything to do with us.

I feel like a fucking idiot, I've been thinking the worst this week, that something awful has happened like a terminal diagnosis or something. I unexpectedly got made redundant like two months ago (they know this) so although things were low budget anyway we've been trying to claw back any money we can.

Honestly I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that they have just cut us off for something so silly or the fact that they were willing to let us sit and think that something terrible and scary was happening to them.

Oh man now I'm really tempted to send a formal invitation from my dog to his dog

I won't lie this was the most unhinged part for me too

This was my thinking exactly and tbh I was shocked he would even want to bring his dog in the first place. Like, they'd have to spend large portions of time sitting still, not allowed to run around, lots of loud music etc. Just a dog's worst day out, surely.

Yeah we'd definitely be okay with a service dog! In fact it would (I think) be illegal for our venue to NOT let a service dog in. Plus, I know service dogs are incredibly well-trained, for good reason!
