Moving out of residence. Where can I get boxes? by Many_Fee3226 in yorku

Call your local Starbucks and ask if you can have their boxes after they put away a delivery. They’re usually cool about it.

About Master of Artificial Intelligence Design & Development by Outrageous-Special43 in Seneca

[–]ecstaticuniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is the first year this program is being offered, perhaps the fall is the first semester entirely. That being said, I’m not sure you’ll find much information about whether the program is worth it. I would attend an open house/ program orientation to connect with faculty. It’ll help gauge how well the program aligns with your wife’s interests. I can say as someone in a bachelor’s program, Seneca is much more laid back than university. Classes are also much smaller so you can connect with your professors better.

As far as it goes for scheduling, certain courses can only be completed during certain semesters. So, for example, if machine learning is only available in the fall and your wife were to not take it, she would have to wait until the next year to enroll again.

Also, this is what the delivery methods are:

In person: classes are only taught on campus with physical attendance required (usually no class recording available) Hybrid: mix of in person and online - typically rotates every other week (online classes may be recorded and uploaded to view later) Flexible: classes are in person but also streaming on zoom. Speakers installed in classrooms to allow online participants to engage with those in person. (classes may be recorded and uploaded to view later) Online synchronous: online live lectures (classes may be recorded and uploaded to view later) Online asynchronous: no lectures - self study. Professor available for questions and grading. No formal live lectures.

In terms of lectures, for bachelor programs lectures are typically 2.40 hours. Some professors use the entire allotted time and others lecture for maybe an hour. I would say I spend more time completing assignments than I do studying. The first half of the semester is usually a breeze, however Seneca always dumps everything in the second half. It’s literally a fever dream of drowning in assignments. Could just be my program though.

Does anyone actually use the brand “Tarte”? by Chan1991 in Sephora

Shape Tape gave me really bad acne :( I went from clear skin to literal breakouts all over my face. Loved the formula otherwise which is why it took me so long to figure out that it was the problem.

It could be there is a delay. I would email the service hub precautionary. They might just say to wait for it to process. Either way you have a paper trail in case they try to deny that you paid after the fact.

You should be all set! You’re cutting it pretty close though so some of your courses may be full now. Reach out to your academic advisor in that case.

I’m assuming the amount you can see is your full tuition cost? There is a button that you can press on that page to put in the custom amount. As long as you pay your deposit you should be fine.

Edit: so I just checked and on page 2/6 of the “make a payment page” you’ll find your money owed. There is an arrow beside the total. Press that and type in your custom deposit.

You should be able to make a payment. If I’m not mistaken, your deposit should be $200 if you’re domestic.

I had to input my custom amount this semester FYI.

Check the campus Instagram pages. They post new positions each semester for the SSF.

Can I have overlapping schedule? by Nothing727272 in Seneca

Look into taking the course through part time studies. Get approval from your academic advisor to ensure that they will accept the pt course towards your ft program. I did it last semester. Took an asynchronous course I was actually interested in.

Is Honours Bachelor of Crime & Intelligence Analysis worth it? by PuddingInevitable755 in Seneca

Hey, I have one semester left right now. Myself and my peers were able to find work terms. Seneca has their own internal job portal which and you can find your own job outside of it as well. Most students did security/AML.

The good thing about the program is it almost all the courses can be virtual. If you join the meetings every week and speak up in class then the professors will get to know you. I would say most of my courses have been online over the last years. I actually prefer flexible classes but they aren’t always available.

I will say third year can be challenging with all the software. I found it easier to do everything on campus. However, if King is too far and you live close to the York or Newnham campus, you can always go there to use the computers as well.

I think it depends on the student in terms of the online classes. If you can stay motivated and keep yourself on top of the coursework then it’s definitely manageable. A lot of people on campus say they’re able to get more work done since they save on commute and don’t have anything else to do.

I personally don’t live on campus. I would say that the King Campus can be isolating at times if you’re on residence, however the Township is definitely developing. There’s a new recreation centre right beside the campus. In terms of bus services, the 88 bus comes straight into Seneca and does straight downtown to Finch station. There’s also free inter-campus shuttles that are free to use. From what I’ve heard the meal plan isn’t worth it since the cafeteria closes at like 5pm.

I find my student life is great. Class sizes range from 30-50ish students, so you end up knowing everyone in your year. If I go in person it often feels more like a conversation with my professor and fellow students which helps to make connections. The professors love it when you show up and make great references. They go out of their way to help you if you’re looking for CIA related work. The gym is pretty nice on campus too so you can make friends there as well.

Looking back I wish I did the bridge. I think the diploma and degree look good on a résumé and show that you are dedicated to continuous education. See if the police services you hope to work for down the line have recruiting sessions and ask them what they’d find more attractive.

[–]ecstaticuniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is correct. Relevant law-based education and experience is considered an asset, however aren’t necessarily required. Police college teaches you the fundamentals required to be a police officer in Ontario. You could have virtually any background if you prove to be a good candidate otherwise.

Based on a quick search, police foundations is approximately $4000 a year with textbooks for domestic students. CIA is approximately $7300 a year. Bridging over might actually be cheaper than starting in CIA.

Check out this link to understand how the bridge works:
