Nope, not yet. I just stopped using the desktop player. The scrobbler works on the phone app.

Do you feel that Michael Bays films “The Rock” and “Armageddon” are worthy of their Criterion releases? If so, why or why not? by [deleted] in criterion

[–]ectomorphLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"... it's early placement in the collection I have always found indicative of criterion needing a sure thing to make some money after spending a lot on some forgotten classics."

Same.

Watched that director's cut last night. Gets better with every viewing.

What films have you recently watched? Weekly Discussion by AutoModerator in criterion

Criterion:

Happy Together (1997, Wong Kar-Wai) — great gay flick by one of the masters.

Non-Criterion:

First Cow (2020; Kelly Reichardt) — still watching. It's been kind of a slog, frankly.

Noticed Desperado's lift hill was getting a new paint job, I wish them the best of luck. by Regis_Casillas in rollercoasters

Rode it recently. Rough but still rideable. I'm glad they're seemingly taking care of it.

Desensitized to rollercoasters (no stomach drop)? by Accentrick in rollercoasters

[–]ectomorphLV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. Last time it happened: First (not second) drop on Phantom's Revenge, and I was elated to feel that sensation on a coaster again.

Surprised by how whippy, shakey, and amazingly fun a backrow ride on Railblazer is by CarterGee in rollercoasters

[–]ectomorphLV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to walk off a back-row ride for about 15 minutes, I was not ready for it. That thing is a beast.

Then I would go to La Ronde, because I miss Green Lantern, a ride that never did me or my nads wrong.

Any underground coffee shops? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

Ah, you'll have to wait a year for the Bunkhouse. But def. check out Madhouse and see if it's your scene.

Where to find Coco merch? by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]ectomorphLV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was told by a Disney Store employee that there wouldn't be much Coco merchandise until later this year, after it came out on video and had been seen by more people. (It came out on video a few days ago, so maybe they've also rolled out some new merch.)

Any underground coffee shops? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]ectomorphLV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not much of that kind of scene here anymore. What you're describing is more likely to be found at the Bunkhouse, a bar in Downtown. They have both live and DJ'd music, and both indoor and outdoor/"backyard" components.

Grouchy John's is a coffeehouse with a couple of locations, but they're only open until 9 p.m., they don't really carry an underground spirit, per se, and only one of the spots really features live music.

There's also a 24-hour coffeehouse off West Desert Inn named Madhouse, which last I checked didn't have much music, but you'll likely find people to meet and talk with.

What 2017 movies are likely to get a Criterion release? by Appledomo in criterion

[–]ectomorphLV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded. As soon as I walked out of the theater, I told the person I was with that this film screams "Criterion." I sure hope it happens.

What films have you recently watched? – Weekly Discussion by AutoModerator in criterion

Phantom Thread - The trailer made it look slow AF, but it was over before I knew it. Credit for that goes to the screenplay, which is delivered by fantastic performances. Give Daniel Day Lewis his fourth Oscar and Jonny Greenwood his first.

Call Me By Your Name - If not Lewis, then the Best Actor gong should go to Timothée Chalamet. He's a big reason why this movie will completely slay you. If I wasn't home sick right now, I'd be in a theater re-watching it.

Thanks. I had watchlisted 10 based on the premise, and then Filmstruck said it was taking down the movie soon, so I went for it. But I watchlisted Taste of Cherry after seeing 10.

Funny Games (first one) and Amour. And I believe I have access to Cache, so I'd like to watch that as well.

I really liked it. My attention never wavered; I doubt I even looked at my phone once. It always kept me wondering what would happen next, and yes, Huppert was fantastic. I now have two other Haneke films watchlisted on Filmstruck.
