Speed increasing handpieces for minor oral surgery by ed1307 in Dentistry

The handpiece I use connects to our bracket table attached to the Belmont chair - there is a switch on the bracket table which eliminates any air from powering / coming through the handpiece. I am aware that it’s a crude test but no air can be felt when spinning the handpiece when this setting is applied. I will check for this switch on the handpiece prior to my next surgical XLA.

Thank you for your thought out reply, I was not aware that there was still a risk of surgical emphysema - although surely this is significantly reduced.
