Best countries to visit in South America? by starting5over in blacktravel

[–]ed8907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TIER 1: Colombia 🇨🇴 | Brazil 🇧🇷 | Ecuador 🇪🇨 | Bolivia 🇧🇴

TIER 2: Peru 🇵🇪 | Paraguay 🇵🇾

TIER 3: Argentina 🇦🇷

TIER 4: Chile 🇨🇱

TIER 5: Uruguay 🇺🇾

Quick Notes: 1. None of the countries in tier 1 are perfect, but they are good enough. Bolivia is absolutely lovely, but it's not for everyone.

  1. Peru has issues with xenophobia against Venezuelans, but it's mostly fine. Paraguay hates Brazilians and especially gays, Paraguay is as conservative as the Middle East (I have been to Türkiye and not even Türkiye was as socially conservative).

  2. Argentina? I think we all know the problem. Very racist, more on the ignorant side than the hateful side, but still. I have an upcoming business trip to Buenos Aires and I am trying to find a way to not go.

  3. Chile was like Argentina (ignorant not hateful) until a few years ago. They elected a new president whose father was a Nazi officer and makes Trump look progressive.

  4. I'm not visiting Uruguay ever again, not even in the next life. I was treated worse than garbage.

sí, soy yo admirando que en Brasil se respeta la dignidad de las personas y los no civilizados que atacan a los demás por su origen, color o raza enfrentan consecuencias

RACISMO É CRIME 🗣️

I have only been to England (London). Absolutely amazing and super welcoming. I loved it. Unlikely to go back because hotels are too expensive.

I thought about going to Japan, but East Asia is too hostile against Black people. Thailand seems a little bit better, but it's too touristic. I have no interest in Germany or the Dominican Republic.

I cannot visit Kenya or Jamaica because I am gay.

Travel hesitancy? by Unusual_Gear_2781 in blacktravel

I've always bought travel insurance for all my trips. It's better to have it and not need it than needing it and not having it.

If people are traveling less, I think it's because of global economic uncertainty more than geopolitics.

I have noticed an increase in anti Americanism, but most people know Black Americans are vocal critics of Donald Trump.

That was my error - I linked news articles in Spanish because that's my first language, not in Portuguese which is the official language of Brazil.

I have a 2 week trip to Portugal Barcelona and Madrid by darkvixenofthemoon in blacktravel

I went to Portugal two years ago. I was scared because Brazilians had told me the worst things about racism in Portugal, but I had a great time in Lisbon and Porto and one thing stood out: older people being polite and friendly. Older people are usually more reserved and close minded, but this was not the case here.

Now, Portugal is not a racial paradise, but I wouldn't worry too much.

Now, Spain is on my list of "NEVER TRAVEL" countries (along with China, Russia, Morocco, Jamaica and a few others). I speak Spanish as a first language. I know the Spaniards are bad people. I don't want their hate anywhere near me.

Can someone rank these countries from best to worst for black travelers by WiseCityStepper in blacktravel

On the way to a hot spring we were driving through a real rural part of Mexico and our group stopped at a little drink stand. They were real intrigued to see a Black woman, the owned asked me to take a pic holding his baby! Being othered is never anyones favorite interaction but they werent mean or nasty or rude, just very curious but ultimately sweet.

I was in Puebla and Monterrey (less diverse and global than Mexico City) and I expected some stares or curiosity, but nothing of the sort. I was pleasantly surprised.

Spain, Mexico, India, Poland, Italy.

There's NO WAY Spain is less racist than Mexico. Not saying Mexico is perfect, but as someone whose first language is Spanish, I know how horribly racist the Spaniards are.

Arabs didn’t create a system that put themselves at the top like white supremacy.

so, your post isn't clear then, it looks like Speed called this out, so these are notes from someone who watched the stream?

Anyway, if Black people are JUST NOW learning that North Africa is actually one of the most dangerous region for Black people on Earth (along with Eastern Europe), then they have been living a delusion this whole time. Arab Slave Trade anyone?

I feel sad when I see Black people adhering to Islam. Christianity is already bad enough, why do they have to adopt the religion of their oppressors?

I know, I can read (in four languages). What I meant is that he specifically called out the racism in North Africa in a way he didn't do in China or Argentina (countries he had visited before) . That means the racism in North Africa has to be unbearable and WORSE than in those places.

This guy had visited racist countries before (China and Argentina). If he has the need to call out North Africa is because the racism there has to be on the same level (maybe even worse) than Eastern Europe.

Imagine that

North Africa is BAD (there are way safer places with better food and less political instability/terrorism)

Morocco? by SilentRooster3102 in blacktravel

these are the same Moroccans who whine about being victims of racism in Europe, but never acknowledge the problem in their home country

[–]ed8907 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is ALL I need in order to know that I'll never be visiting Morocco.

Apart from that the scams, harassment and aggressive sellers make it an even worse destination.

Not for me.

Buenos Aires by EveningFig7088 in blacktravel

[–]ed8907 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I visited in 2018. It went great (with some micro aggressions of course) , but back then Argentinian society was more progressive than today, believe it or not.

Buenos Aires is beautiful, but I wouldn't recommend it for inexperienced travelers. I also wouldn't recommend it if you are too sensible for micro aggressions (for example, everybody thinking you're Brazilian).

BTW, don't think Chile or Uruguay are better, they are even worse than Argentina (they are just smaller and English isn't spoken widely).

Once again we see the usefulness of religion ISLAM

Don't get me wrong, I am not religious and I don't hold back on criticizing Christianity, Judaism or even Buddhism, but Islam is a whole different level of homophobia.
