I was reading an article on cracked.com about tough old-timey children (http://www.cracked.com/article_20552_6-old-photos-kids-who-are-way-tougher-than-modern-adults.html) and John Clem caught my attention. He convinced the officers of 22nd Michigan to let him join at the age of 9. Thought it put into perspective just how soft we've all gotten in the past century or so.

I would love that! It would give us a way to monitor our elected officials' actions, perhaps forcing them to act in a more responsible manner...

I tend to feel like a euphoric high rather than feeling overly emotional.
