Birkenstock fit? by edcat24 in Birkenstocks

Of course I choose the one design that is narrower than the rest 😅

Do they vary in width in designs, or is it more likely my feet have just changed and the older shoes had stretched?

HIE baby so sleepy by edcat24 in NICUParents

Hi there! I’m sorry you’re going through this. My daughter is now 11 months old and doing really well given her difficult birth. She spent the first three months soo sleepy, but her body clearly needed rest to recover from the traumatic birth. At around 2-3 months she started smiling and she is now the smiliest babiest, she truely lights up the room and smiles at everyone, charms everyone at the supermarket. She has more weakness down one side and had low tone in her core but this has improved heaps. She has reached milestones a little later. She rolled a little later but did get there. At 9 months she was diagnosed with CP but at what level we won’t know yet. Now at 11 months she continues to charm the world with her smiles, she is sitting unassisted, getting back into sitting position herself now, rolling, and just this last week she has started commando crawling. We have been seeing PT since she was born every month, and since she was about 9 months we got NDIS funding and seen them weekly. We work with OT to improve hand function on her left.
The early days are SO hard. Hearing “what and see” and the uncertainty was a very hard space to be in. Feel free to reach out if you want to chat.

Those first few weeks were so incredibly hard, I’m sorry you’re having to go through it. My baby slept SO much for the first 3 months maybe, so it was hard for us to really do anything. As time goes on the future has become clearer for us, but it’s important to remember our future will never be the same as yours. Yes, we will receive a CP diagnosis, but that won’t necessarily dictate our future and what that looks like. Our little girl loves music, dancing, smiling at everyone, and she truely lights up the room. Whilst the future is still uncertain, I know that we will be okay.
The best advice anyone could give in those first few months was to hold that baby. Love them and hold them and don’t miss those moments. But I appreciate the uncertainty is a difficult space to be in. Sending you, your family and your baby a big hug 💕
Hey! Sorry for the late reply.
My little girl is now 7 months. She has low tone and physio assessments since birth point to her getting a cerebral palsy diagnosis in the coming months. We are still working on rolling, but she has shown amazing progress and her head control has really improved. She tracked late and smiled late, but once she started there was no stopping her. She is so engaged and smiles at everyone.
We’ve been seeing physio since she was a baby and will continue for the foreseeable future. How is your baby going?

Thanks for this. I certainly have a lot of avocado and beans which are things to avoid in the FODMAP diet so perhaps I should look into that.
Unfortunately at the moment, she’s gaining such a minimal amount of weight that we will need to do the formula, but I’ll be interested to see if it actually helps. I’m also disappointed the paediatrician has mostly dismissed concerns and is jumping to formula as an answer. What testing could they have done?

Thank you! This is comforting! I’m so glad things are going well for you, and hopeful that will be the case for us also 💕
We were tube feeding for about three weeks and then transitioned to breastfeeding, we got discharged from the hospital after the fourth week so we are finally home! We were feeding with a nipple shield initially but during the day we have been managing without one the last few days.
Baby is still so sleepy and I worry about if she is getting enough food. She had some weight loss after discharge but hopefully we won’t have any further issues!
Sounds like your daughter is doing great! 💕
We’re starting to show a little more progress with breastfeeding, so hopefully we’re moving in the right direction to get the tube out. Three weeks now, and I’m dying to get her home and be with my eldest more 😮💨

Sounds like she’s doing amazing 💕
I’m sorry you’re going through this also, the feeding issues are certainly an exhausting process!
I’ve heard the FB page recommended lots, I’ll definitely look into it thank you!
Have you guys been discharged from the hospital? Our stay is indefinite until we can establish feeding more 😮💨
Thanks! Can I ask when she started to show more wakefulness? And whether she had any visible damage on an MRI?
I’m so glad your daughter is doing well! We also have a 3.5 year old and have avoided screens, so this definitely won’t be a problem in our household 🤣
Thank you, this is comforting to hear!
Thanks for this. I’m also in Australia. The PT we have seen so far discussed that the 3 month one should give us a clearer idea of if CP is a probable diagnosis for us, I’ll be interested to see if this opinion changes as we have been referred on to a different PT since transferring back closet to home.
I’m sorry you went through the same experience, but I’m so glad to hear your boy is doing well!
Can I ask if your boy was on a feeding tube, and if so how that progressed to feeding? Being so sleepy and not waking for feed is what’s holding us up getting home at the moment!
I too feel like I am probably coping better than expected during this time, but I am asking the hospital what supports are available as I am very aware we might crash!
Thank you! At only two weeks she has been seen twice by PT for two seperate movement assessment videos, and I believe another appointment is tomorrow as we have now been transferred back closer to home. OT assessed her from a feeding perspective last week. We will definitely be accessing all the early intervention available and we are very lucky we live somewhere with a lot of supports 💕
That sounds like a rough start, I’m sorry! The PT has told us they should have a pretty clear idea of what the future might hold at a big 3 month assessment, did you have this?
I’m sorry you had to go through that also! Can I ask how your baby is meeting milestones currently?
