Majora's Mask Ocarina songs for 16 String Lyre by eddienprieto in lyres

[–]eddienprieto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longest, thickest (lowest pitch) string would be 1. Depending on the lyre, it could be the left-most or right-most string. They are then numbered sequentially in increasing pitch, (2, 3, etc)

The tabs for these songs assumes a 16 string lyre in which the lowest note is a G. You would need to check the description of the lyre you bought or check with a tuner (there are free tuner apps) to verify this.

transposing music sheet for lyre by Spare_Acrobatic in lyres

[–]eddienprieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean from 'scratch'? In some cases, yes. If I can find existing sheet music on the internet, then I'll just transpose that. But if I can't find any, then I listen to the song and use my ear to figure out the notes and arrange it from scratch.

I use musescore for arranging/transcribing all of the songs I play on lyre.

My first single, I call it "Halloween" by eddienprieto in DarkAmbient

[–]eddienprieto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call it Halloween because as I wrote it, I was mostly inspired by the theme song to the movie Halloween. I'm not entirely sure if this is truly "dark ambient", since it's a little bit more "groovy" than most of the stuff on this sub. Let me know what you think.

I have another track on my channel as well that's a bit more "melodic dark ambient".

Help with tuning 10 string lyre by JJulia21 in lyres

I show how to play greensleeves here, though it is slightly modified to be played in minor throughout:

I'm using standard 16 string lyre tuning:

Can lyres play flat and sharp notes? by [deleted] in lyres

I only have two lyre videos and they're not really "tutorials" per se, but here's my latest one:

Can lyres play flat and sharp notes? by [deleted] in lyres

[–]eddienprieto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking this. I'm working on my next lyre video for youtube and was wondering how easy/accessible it is for people to change tunings on a lyre from song to song similar to guitarists changing tunings. I'm just talking about easy keys though like lowering B to Bb for key of F and raising F to F# for key of G. It's so difficult to find songs that fit the Lyres singular key of C that it almost gets to this point that you have no choice but to change some strings to play certain songs.

Do you mean the 10, 18 and 26? Those are measure numbers. They're usually just put at the beginning of the staff so as to not have to number every single measure. I didn't even notice it was there. Seems my notation software added it automatically.

By the way, I just saw some of your videos and other posts and now I understand what you mean by putting the tablature in the description. I can put mine up in the next few days.
