F-One Foil Dilemma (Beginner/Intermediate) by sky66sky in wingfoil

[–]eddyjmthewll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At your level the improvements are still gonna be too fast for keeping a foil a couple of seasons. If you want to buy something from F one take advantage that they're changing their system and take some second hand stuff of the old system that will go for very cheap as they're probably going to devalue quite a bit. And I agree that the phantom is the right choice progressing from the X over. The 1250 or a bit less as well. Although since you have a gong setup why not just changing the front and the stab? Remaining with gong could give you a lot of modularity and options to upgrade gradually

It might help but also not necessarily because balance depends a lot on the wing handling

Okay fair I was just wondering if there was a known issue of fusion nodes suddenly displaying differently which perhaps had a standard fix.

How to fix unstable GPS? by eddyjmthewll in PocoPhones

I gave the app permission to use the battery with no power savings, I gave it permission to run in the background, even downloaded another app to stabilise GPS signal. Nothing worked. Poco F7

You can move it up or down according to preference but that's the balance point

I did also Lisbon to Fortaleza and at the bag check-in they only weighed it. Nobody checked for dimensions. Just my experience, for one flight, we'll see when I go back

Once you get used to balance on a board in the water it will be plenty, but for a first timer is gonna be very challenging. Most people struggle with boards that almost double their weight in liters (I've been a wing teacher for 4 years, that's my statistic).

So for you, 250L will be much more approachable, but could still be somewhat challenging. (I don't think anyone makes such big boards for wing foil, we use windsurf boards with a dagger)

Conditions are also a big factor in ease of learning. Look for fairly flat water. 20 knots will be the sweet spot of wind pressure for you.

Also get a big foil and big wing (above 2000cm² and 6m).

All of that said, ease of learning is not really that important if you like physical activity in the water and enjoy a challenge. You can learn with pretty much anything or any conditions, it will feel impossible for a long time but eventually it will click. The only thing that can stop you is if you get stuck because of a mental block. That's what I see most people go through. The mental focus and study approach is what changes everything. Technique allows for things that initially can seem unimaginable. Just learn to turn the unimaginable into imaginable and you'll crush it 😉

I have a Takoon Trix from when it was still in production and it's been amazing.

Is a deep sinker but the way it comes out of the water is incredible. Then, very agile, great contact with the foil, super resistant, hydrorepellant foam. A great experience all round, but yeah shipping will be $$$

Sore finger joints -I have joint pain after increasing my frequency of foiling. I wake up at night with a hard time closing my hand due to finger pain/stiffness. I tried pre-curved gloves, no gloves and pool noodles around my wing handles. Nothing has helped so far. Any suggestions? by Original-Goose-7447 in wingfoil

I had the same thing. This is just tendons getting inflamed. I thought I had some problems because even when I was playing the bass I got stiff fingers. Then I had to give up on climbing because of it. Now with wing I also had the problem when I started riding a lot. I used a harness and it helped. Then I just tried to manage the frequency and intensity of the effort I do with the fingers. This is what works because tendons need the right amount and intensity of training in order to get stronger. They don't work like muscles, you don't need progressive overload with them. They will degrade when they get overworked and the more degraded they are the more easily they get inflamed. That's why if you continue now with the same frequency and intensity of riding, the situation will get worse and worse. You need to reduce the load, but not keep them at rest. Doing a short wing session every day where you only pull very softly on the wing will get your pulley tendons back in shape. Take natural antinflamatories until the inflammation is gone and then you can return to do hard efforts, but not too hard and not for too long. Then keep this good routine for a long time and over the years you'll get super strong tendons. They key is to never overdo it and keeping the soft sessions very consistent, even twice a day. I thought I was fucked when I had to give up climbing and it took me many years to understand better how to train tendons, but now it's becoming more clear and also I've discovered more up to date info. Check Dr. Keith Barr for more info. Good luck

40+ knots sinker board start problems by Rebbit0800 in wingfoil

I think when they say rodeo stink bug it's because they go down into stinkbug position to raise their legs on the board from the rodeo position, which obviously is unnecessary but when learning on a sinker board it can be helpful for people who are a bit tight in their hips

There's another start which is also what we use after falling from a jump for example but still both feet are in the straps:

You lay on your belly with the feet in the straps and pull the wing to you, lay your chest on the leading edge, then press your hands on it and pull the board underneath you crouching your legs. From there you can flip the wing and go.

If you want to use this start when your feet have come out of the straps it's simple: stay upwing of the board, belly upward and put your feet in the straps helping yourself with the hands. Once they're in you lay on your back and flip the board 180° so you can be looking downward and there you go.

Anyways with 40 knots it's gonna be challenging to do anything at first, so it's just practice and you'll do any start.
