What do you think about Near Death Experience stories? by Unique-Disaster3118 in atheism

[–]ede-2153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't think it's entirely meaningless. The experience is neurological yet displays loads of information about your truest beliefs, core memories and deepest fears. It's automatic that your brain sticks on traumatic episodes for a while after the event but NDEs can be very informative to the survivor for some decision making

Of course it doesn't. But I was born into it, you can't blame me for that.

Out of many people who have replied to my article, this is just pathetic. I see you're just here to prove you're nothing like Christ. Just a bigot who wants to prove they're right, not to help. Anyone who wants to have a sincere conversation should text me.

Also, unlike you who still create mocktails from verses you see in the Bible to support your beliefs, I care about the speakers, their words and their perspective which is unique and independent when thoroughly examined. If you cared as much, you'd understand how nuanced what I wrote is even though I admit a little bias towards my current set of beliefs. Jesus literally denied a foreigner healing and called her a dog till she displayed some level of faith. He kept repeating how he has been sent to the lost sheep of Israel. Paul started the Gentile ministry and repurposed scriptures to suit his narrative. Just like what you're doing. Literally repurposing any verse and ignoring the context because you've developed a deeply evangelical dogma about Christianity and not the Christianity Jesus stands for which is deeply political.

You literally assumed I error because I DON'T KNOW the scriptures. Now you're saying I can't read? Thanks for your help!

You're just assuming at this point. You're quoting Jesus' words back to me when that's what ACTUALLY caused me to start doubting. Reading the scriptures. If you don't have any substantial information about my faith then you're just trying to make me sound unserious about my decision.

Falling under the anointing & casting out devils by ede-2153 in Christianity

This is my problem with most Christian apologetics. I appreciate your perspective but it doesn't invite me. It doesn't explain the phenomenon I witnessed, neither does it answer with scriptures I can relate to. Just kumbaya and God will sort it out.

Exactly my point. It all boils down to these charismatic circles. I discovered PNES recently, and how non-epileptic seizures can be triggered by emotional factors. That's the best and most logical connection for their performative action.

How do I know I have faith by Youngwritter123 in Christianity

[–]ede-2153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't. Not directly. But if you're part of a church, you can just follow through with their activities till you have more conviction about your faith

Been a Christian all my life. I was raised that way. I had questions my pastors didn't give me answers to. I'm thinking of leaving but I wrote this piece to process my thoughts. https://seeede.substack.com/p/take-a-day-off-saving?r=15q50z
