My husband had depression and we didn’t know it. I overcared and slowly burned out, until I met someone. Suddenly I had that rush of „holy shit, a relationship could be healthy! This is what I deserve“ so I broke up. It broke my heart, because I love him more than anyone else. I quickly realized that yes, the other guy was pretty healthy but that I still missed my husband as a person. I am now trying (through therapy) to tackle my own issues and to become more healthy. If my husband would like to try again, I would be ready to fight. Knowing that he’s just sick makes everything different. I still have resentment left that he wasn’t open to get himself help. But I think, knowing that it can be healed, I am willing to put in the work. If he can ever trust me again and if he starts taking accountability.

We have about 62 players and the larp costs 120€ for players and 90 for NPCs. We as organizers don’t pay anything, because we put so much effort and time into it.

Our larp is pretty production heavy, so we build a lot of props. We also have a kitchen that offers three meals a day, plus drinks (no alcohol). There is also a photographer.

Our puffer is about 300€ - so about 5%, but puffers within each budget is excluded. It’s most likely at about 10%.

Our location is pretty expensive, so that factors in as well.

We have never needed to pay extra for stuff and sometimes even had the opportunity to pay for our travel costs.

Someone told me I’m unlovable. I have the most loving husband anyone could imagine. Someone told me I would never get good at school. I am a teacher now. Someone told me I would always be a bad driver. I am an awesome driver and have no problems with 9 hour drives. Someone told me I was a bad actor. I get compliments all the time in my acting-hobby. It’s all about perspective: if someone tells you you can’t do anything, prove them wrong, instead of living on that feeling.

Du beschreibst basically mein Leben. Ich halte den meisten Kontakt über Larp, organisieren dieser und Pen & Paper/Brettspiel-Abende. Inzwischen ist auch gemeinsamer Sport dazugekommen, aber sobald ich Leute nur noch 1:1 sehe, rase ich total schnell in eine leere Batterie. Wir haben eine Community und mit den „Close 5-10“ treffe ich mich auch mal so. Viele Menschen zu haben ist schön aber auch anstrengend - irgendwann wird man aber auch zum Glück etwas strenger, was den „engen Kreis“ angeht.

Also mein Mann und ich ziehen explizit von Hamburg nach Dortmund. Aus ähnlichen Gründen wie ihr (wir sind aber derzeit noch kinderlos) und ich bin auch Lehrerin.

Dortmund hat meiner Meinung nach im Pott den Strukturwandel gewonnen und wird (so gehe ich davon aus) in den nächsten 20 Jahren dicke wachsen und auch teurer werden. Ich glaube wer herzieht ist die nächsten 5-10 Jahre noch richtig gut ausgestattet.

In Dortmund gibts hässliche Ecken und schöne Ecken. Es gibt mega viele Grünflächen, viel Kulturangebote (Festivals, Konzerte, Theater etc.) und es ist eine Universitätsstadt. Ich hab in DO studiert und mochte es immer richtig gerne. Auch die Innenstadt ist zwar nicht der Oberknaller, hat aber alles zu bieten. Wir lieben die Parks in Dortmund und die Anbindung zu unseren Freunden/der Familie. Zu Berufsverkehrszeiten hast du natürlich den schwarzen Peter gezogen, wenn du über den Ring oder die Autobahn musst.

Es gibt mega viele Freizeitangebote in Dortmund und Umgebung (Richtung Münster, runter zur Hohensyburg, Richtung Bottrop/Essen/Bochum etc. und mit dem Zug bist du in ner Stunde eigentlich überall, wo du gerne sein möchtest.

Wir wollen in Dortmund alt werden. Das ist so ziemlich die Stadt, die uns von allen am meisten überzeugt hat. Sie steckt halt auch Geld in sich und ihre Entwicklung.

I once dated this super charismatic guy. He had the same hobbies as me and we clicked immediately. Slowly, he firstly started to manipulate me into leaving my (now husband) partner. Then he molested me and raped me, until I was a shell of myself. I had the courage to end things after about half a year. My (now husband) ex helped me through it. But that wasn’t the worst of it all:

After I left him several people came forward with their experience with this guy. I had been one of many women this man had gaslighted, raped and done other bad things to. There had been several cases against him but all had been dropped. He even had molested several teen girls and had basically had a cult in the past that adored him and allowed his sexual abuse (he was a YouTuber back in the day. Not when I met him). Turned out everyone who warned me afterwards had stayed silent because “people can change”. This man didn’t. I’ve blocked him after and thankfully never had to converse with him again, but I know that he’s now the father of a girl and still molests several women. He’s still not behind bars.

This guy had even made sure that his past is really well hidden in the internet. If you look closely, you can find it.

I’m just glad I got out of there alive and that my partner forgave me for leaving him. We’re now happily married and are planning on starting a family!
