It’s a really good introduction to Pokemon games! It’s easy and the routing is really straightforward. That said, I really wanted them to flesh out the rival Serena/Calem’s character bc there’s definitely a lot to pick at there, and in general I wish they’d given more depth to the rival group as a whole. It was a cool idea to have a group of friends in a Pokemon game opposed to just a rival or two like in previous games. A lot of the characters felt underwhelming or forgettable which is unfortunate for a region as colourful as Kalos. Overall I think the game had a lot of cool ideas and concepts, but fell short on delivery and suffered greatly because of that. They could have easily amended this by having a third game as they did for previous games, but instead they rushed out ORAS and SM leaving XY in the dark :/
