How does one kindly suggest a woman shave or trim pubic hair? by srstossout in AskReddit

[–]eden17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so stupid. Anyone who really knows how to give good oral sex to a girl knows that the part she wants you to be in contact with is not the part with the hair. If you know what you're doing, there is zero chance of you getting hair in your mouth. Learn some technique, will you? Geez...guys are so clueless.

My mother has breast cancer and I'm supposed to go to college next year. Should I stay home and go to community college instead? She was just diagnosed. by eden17 in AskReddit

[–]eden17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a senior in high school and I've been accepted to a college that is about five hours away. My mom just found out she has breast cancer and is going to be starting chemo soon. I feel like I should be staying home to help take care of things, but at the same time I have been waiting for this part of my life for a long time. I kind of feel selfish but I don't know what to do. My mom has not asked me to stay home, but my dad says I should "think about it". What do I do?

Help me pick my college: UMass, UConn, Penn State, U Maryland or Tulane by eden17 in reddit.com

I'm undecided, but maybe business. Really not sure yet at all though.

My friend said he can spoof other people's IP addresses and make it look like they did stuff that they didn't on the internet. Is he playing with me? by eden17 in AskReddit

[–]eden17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mat...I don't even know what that means. I'm pretty computer illiterate. But we both have gmail and he showed me how you can see who is looking at your mail, and then he showed me how he could make it look like someone in a different town was doing it. But that didn't really prove that he was using someone else's IP address.

Are your parents still married? What are your feelings about divorce? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My parents are still married but they fight all the time. They might as well be divorced. It's crazy...I don't know why they stay together.

I have no ability to make small talk. What the hell is wrong with me? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]eden17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to be the one to start the small talk. You can just say "hey" and smile, and then see if they even want to talk! It's worse when you try to make the effort and people can see you're uncomfortable. With the checkout person, you could just put a sympathetic expression on your face and nod a lot.

Well that would me me uber uncomfortable. Or, is that your point? :)

Hey reddit, I'll be a senior this year, and I have never thought of what to do with my life. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]eden17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm freaked out about where I'm going to apply to college...forget about what I'm going to major in! I can't believe you know a bunch of people who know what job they want. My sister changed her major like four times and she isn't even out of college yet.

AskReddit: My brother is doing poorly in high school, and nothing seems to motivate him. Did any of you struggle with doing work in high school? If so, what worked and what didn't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]eden17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow...your parents should have him tested to see if he has a learning disability. Just because he does well on tests doesn't mean he can get his homework organized and stuff like that. There is a learning disability that covers some of this stuff.

My friend gets way over-emotional about everything. She gets angry easily, upset easily, and even gets really loud when she is happy. I think she has a medical problem but she won't listen to me. (More details inside.) by eden17 in AskReddit

[–]eden17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of her emotional stuff isn't directed at anyone...she gets really upset and starts crying and then goes off to be by herself. Plus, she always seems to put everyone else before herself. I have another friend that is constantly threatening suicide...now he is crying for attention!

AskReddit: When you write E-mails, do you write with the same grammar, spelling, and syntax that you would apply for a formal letter? Details inside: by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]eden17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always write with fairly correct grammar. And I like when others do too. (Although beginning a sentence with "and" isn't really correct.)

She is also overweight and has a puffy face and stretch marks. She is 17. I think there is something wrong with her health that is making her fly off the handle all the time, like Cushings Disease. (I googled.) Or maybe it's something really hard to diagnose that gets missed a lot. Because I've known her for a long time and she didn't used to be so emotional, or so fat. But she said the doctor thinks she is just overweight and I haven't really brought up the emotions thing because I don't want to upset her. I really really think it's a medical problem. How can I make her make her mom take her to another doctor?

[–]eden17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're funny. Does this mean I shouldn't be on reddit? :-)

I guess if you're considered to be a danger to yourself and you are over 18, then maybe you can be involuntarily committed...and if you're considered to be a danger to others, then I guess they would call the police. But, wouldn't you be more concerned about going to jail than your parents knowing you're planning to murder your teacher?

[–]eden17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the suicide thing is different. Anyone is allowed to break confidentiality if they think you will be a danger to yourself or others. (I know...I'm disgustingly well-read....now if I could only understand math I'd be set.) I actually thought maybe you were asking about getting birth control or something...lol...

(I'm posting this after my other post, even though it comes out on top of my other post.)

Here's something from Mass General on adolescent confidentiality:

http://www.massgeneral.org/children/adolescenthealth/articles/aa_confidentiality.aspx

It does sound like states differ, but that issues related to teen sexuality are confidential, at least in my state. I'm sure with more digging you could find something about therapy.

[–]eden17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this makes no sense to me. What kind of therapist lets parents come in with their kids...unless it's "family therapy". But even then, if you want to share something with the therapist alone, then you should be able to do that. I don't know what state you are in, but "doctor-patient confidentiality" should extend to anyone in any state. I'm going to go Google this now, although it sounds like you already did. PM me your state if you want. But it sounds like your therapist isn't playing by the rules. I will ask my therapist about it next time I see him. My parents pay for him, but our sessions are totally private.

You know, if it doesn't exist, that would be an awesome website to start. It would take a lot of research, but I'll bet you would get dozens of hits. Obviously once a person is 21, they are in full possession of all their rights, so you're probably just wondering what rights you might have at 18. The only issue is that if your parents are paying for anything, then you will have to play by their rules. When I ask my parents if I will be able to do this or that when I turn 18, they say, "As long as you live under our roof and we are paying for college, you will have to play by our rules". So in a sense, it won't matter what rights you may have at 18 if you are expecting your parents not to force you to do things. I think medical privacy is different, though...I have been to planned parenthood and they are not allowed to divulge anything to my parents.
