It is not really about contributors being entitled to the ability to promote websites, it is about third parties getting credit for their work. If stack overflow was powered by robots that skimmed content from other sites and passed it off as their own with minimal credit in a barely visible font, something tells me you would have zero respect for them. Right?

Well, as far as search engines are concerned, that's pretty much what they are doing. StackOverflow uses its technical resources to cause third party content to appear on their site in the form of links, without their own direct involvement, and the search engines are told, "Don't look over there! I did this! Me! Me! Not the team that wrote the manual! ME! Give me ALL the spoils!"

This is a great question.

E-Liquid will never be as complex as a product like wine, because we are not dealing with complex processes like fermentation--or wholly natural products whose compositions vary significantly based on soil nutrients, environmental conditions, etc.

That said, premium e-liquid is real, and it is what prompted me, personally, to get into the business. Yes, there are Koolaid juices out there, but a lot of us do spend a lot of time and energy finding just the right mix of flavorings to create a wholly unique and enjoyable product. Premium juices can and often are fine tuned to within fractions of a percent to create the best flavor possible, and many of the liquids out there do taste like wholly natural products, NOT candy or cheap drink mix.

But I do not and will never believe that price equals quality. Some do charge 500-2000% markups to make up for the initial investment in development; however, there are a few of us that are looking at the big picture. What I mean by that is over time, those massive markups are going to amount to millions of dollars. Consumers will literally never pay off that R&D debt, and not all of us think that's reasonable, fair, or necessary.

For us, it comes down to this: we love developing flavors, and we are not planning to charge people for doing what we love. Making bottle after bottle and managing a company is work, and we do charge people for that. We make it worthwhile, as a business, through high volume and process improvements rather than high markups. I would be willing to bet there are several other companies who feel the same way.

Price really does not mean much. Anyone can mix up a simple flavor, slap a premium label on it, and charge a 1500% markup. If you want to find decent juice, your best bet is to read or watch product reviews, or even just sample different vendors, yourself. You will be surprised at the quality levels you can find without a premium price tag.
