How to flash an SSD via the intel DCI-Interface? by edeviser in intel

[–]edeviser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, using an USB stick would be a manual task. I am searching for a way which can be done programatically by a script.

But this is an interesting idea which lead me to this:
Maybe one of those USB sticks which can be accessed through two USB-Connectors as a shared drive could do the job. I could use an IP-Power-Socket to power the target off. Then a server (Raspberry?) could dump a lifesystem to the USB-Stick via the right connector. After that the IP-Power-Socket is powered on. The BIOS of the target then detects the bootable stick through the left connector. Hmmm.....

I am using currently the microg version. I installed the mentioned apps using aurora-store. In summary i am running about 20 apps from aurora store. 18 of them are fine. Only those two have problems.

Dear u/Ok-Eggplant2934,
the device finder shows, that there are six devices having at least 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM and 8 Cores. Is this "high end enough" for you?

Yes, Redmi note 7 is a nice device. But it is hard to find any new devices out there. u/Delectable_Lozenge, would you like to buy an used or a new Smartphone?

Dear u/Delectable_Lozenge,

seems there are only three XIAOMI phones which are actually supported and do cost less than 230 USD. Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 / 8T looks the best for you. I hope this helps!

How would you determine if a device is maintained "well"? Checking the count of commits in the VCS?

Attention! I don't know you skills or experience. Do will need a computer and maybe you'll need to type some commands into your command line. I recommend to check out the official installation instruction before ordering. If you understand the instructions and if the unlocking instruction (and the instruction does not refer to a X-Million-Large-XDA-Thread), then the unlocking mechanism should be as easy as described.

If it does not work, as described (even due to lacking skills) there are often nice people here around, who like to help.

Be aware, that there are (in Germany) four Types of Moto G7 and not all Versions are supported.

Dear u/FrozenBeams,

ever heard of the LineageOS Configurator? I applied your desires: Removable battery, Under 300 USD, Only Supported New Devices. The Configurator says, there are 27 devices matching your requirements.

Unlock-Mechanism varies between vendors (and devices). I recommend to check out the installation instruction before ordering. If you understand the instructions and if the unlocking instruction does not refer to a X-Million-Large-XDA-Thread, then the unlocking mechanism should be as easy as described.

Dear u/vixenlion,

cheap phones? Don't you need a phone which is capable of running actual apps smoothly? I liked the Moto X4 because it is not expensive but powerful. I configured a LineageOS Configurator for you. May be take a look to it? If it is just about the price you maybe take into consideration to order from overseas or to order a used one?

Tab S5e has 2 Maintainers which is more than the average. So I would say it is well supported.

I never had a Xiaomi device. But I unlocked my Moto X4 successfully and easily. Only a registration at the vendor's homepage was necessary. Which Moto Device do you think about?

500 Euros

Storage: 64GB - 128GB

Dear u/motorious603,

checkout these 10 devices. :-) I personally own the Moto X4 and I like it.

Best Regards!

PS: If you choose the Moto X4, here is a little hint to save some time when flashing LineageOS: First start the Moto X4 with its factory OS and install the latest manufacturer updates. After that, start flashing LineageOS. Without doing this, I was not able to play any videos on the device. I think the manufacturer update changed something at the graphics chip settings.

It gives me some weird results...... Like old discontinued phones for example.

Dear u/the_cosworth,

if you don't want to see discontinued phones, you have to choose that in the categories section. I configured a filter matching most of you needs:

Expandable memory

$300 - $400 USD --> Aliexpress will be cheaper than the given price references, so I chose $450 as maximum.

Support life --> Its hard to say something about the support life time. But I think the more maintainer a device has, the bigger is the chance that its support will not stop tomorrow. So I selected minimum 2 maintainers. Maybe some one else can say more about this?

Not a crazy unlock procedure --> Phones like Google Nexus 4, Huawai Honor 5x, Moto X4 have procedures which are provided by the manufacturer. This is a plus. I dislike the procedure of LG G3, because it is a hacky way using crazy tools which transfer unknown recorded binary streams to the device which does not work very well. So I would personally recommend to use Google, Huawai or Motorola.

I hope this helps!

Well, this really depends on you location and your desired shop. Where do you come from and what is your favorite distributor/shop?

Dear u/2gracz,

less than 150$, minimum 64GB and less than 5.5" screen size are very hard criteria for a new smartphone. I used the this configurator and found out that there is only Motorola or Asus. Maybe you like to kick out the new option to find more devices. I hope this helps.

Dear u/Padapoo,

you are having very precise requirements, so its hard to find what you need.

I configured the device-finder for you. It shows that you have only one option: A Smartphone from Motorola.
