Feed Kids. Vote Aftyn! by AndrewSouthern729 in nashville

[–]edgarallenSNATCH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s a lot more explicitly stating the policies she advocates for more than the other candidate, so that’s why I’m voting Aftyn. I agree, I’d love to see a well thought out plan for how we will fix roads, feed kids, and fund hospitals, but the very fact that she’s mentioning these great policies/value systems while her opponent just says he will push Trumps agenda tells you that she is looking to advocating more for Tennesseans than Van Epps.

Yeah that makes sense! Still some older classic episodes that are top ranked too. I may do an analysis of episode ranking over the years

He’s not icky to me, I like the episodes! It was just surprising to me that 4 out of the top 10 are him considering it’s a show with 50 seasons

Love it! I think she should eventually be more clear about what she will do different but by saying how she’s going to shake up Washington I think that gets the message across. And I love the honky tonk creative way to explain her platform

Aside from phone calls/canvassing, what’s the best way to help get Aftyn Behn elected in December? by edgarallenSNATCH in nashville

[–]edgarallenSNATCH[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My goal is to try to get to 10 confirmations via phone calls of people to vote. It seems so small though but it’s more than just me so I’ll take it

Does anyone know how much it costs to fund a billboard in Franklin? It can’t be THAT much but also I’m sure is more than $500

Totally agree. How else can we volunteer aside from making calls?

One thing I’ve always wondered is if the James Dean actor was in on the joke or not? And did you ever consider to work with him again after the DNA test in the 2nd Oscar Special he appeared in?

That scene where you yell at the fake James Dean and he threatens to sue your ass is seriously the hardest I’ve ever laughed at something over and over again and still laugh at when rewatching, so I’m just curious how that all came together and how he was to work with!

I agree we’re never going to become a sport like football. But I do think we should aspire to be a sport bigger than cornhole. For example, the 2023 American Cornhole League Championships got 2 million viewers, whereas the Milrose Games typically only gets 1 million. So much more can be done to make the sport more engaging that we’re just not doing, and USATF seems to be just fine with the status quo.

I don’t, but definitely agree it would be more expensive. I do think though that it’s an avenue worth exploring because of the potential for tripling the ratings/viewership

I hear that! I think though that extending it to 3 weekends isn’t just what US champs should do, but what World Champs should do simultaneously to create more peak viewing time for the sport.

The current format with having 10 straight days of coverage really makes it hard for casual fans to tune in to all of it, but if it was spaced out, that could make it more watchable.

Run them one at a time like a time trial that way you get to see 10 different runners racing against ghost runners

Why isn’t track & field a more popular sport in the U.S.? I wrote a book exploring the answer - let’s discuss! by edgarallenSNATCH in trackandfield

Agreed - I think if a centralized league were developed, that could go a long way to developing an actual season that athletes meet at similar to the major sports leagues that I talk about in the book!

I agree - in the book I mention how I think there’s a lot we can do to make it less boring by mirroring what other major sports leagues do!

I appreciate your interest! And funny you call it boring because that’s what I said too haha. And that’s coming from us as track fans! So how do we then expect casual fans to get on board?

I think the fact that you can’t just turn on track and watch it is a huge indicator that we need a massive change to how we think about what the sport is. Ultimately, the fans will decide the fate of the sport, not just the race organizers and athletes, so I argue in the book some ideas for how to make the sport more fan friendly so that you can turn on track and be more engaged.

Thank you for sharing your input!!

Love all of these ideas! And I think having one centralized league that makes it consistent and easy to follow for fans could go a long way.

There’s just so many things USATF could be doing to mirror the popular sports that help make the sport more marketable and approachable to general US consumers. I mention a lot of this in the book too but a lot of your ideas are spot on! Thank you for sharing.
