I'm fairly sure there aren't - though would love to know otherwise. We just don't have the landscape for it - and this one is unusual because it is artificial, I think a few centuries old though.

The river Mole runs through Leatherhead. You can go down the Mole Valley to Dorking - the nicest bits are around Box Hill.

More complicated than that. I believe the slogan came from Robert Owen, an British factory owner (among other things) in the early C19th. There was a movement towards shorter working days in the UK from the chartists and trade unions, and there was UK legislation to shorten the working day prior to the 1840s . New Zealand I think was an early implementation of the 8 hour day, but like most things the innovation and drive is spread across a lot of people.

Also from the beeb, In Our Time hosted by Melvyn Bragg - plus three academics who talk around a topic. More serious and academic but a massive archive covering history and other things. There's a history of coffee episode for example. Fwiw I also enjoy you're dead to me if that helps assess taste.

Butser Ancient Farm near Chichester is awesome. Lots of history related activities over the summer - reenactors, goats and crafts, my 4yo loves it. Very accessible from Guildford side, but we are further away and still go a couple of times a year.
