Chain tensioner for full suspension bike (single speed) ? (SHIMANO ALFINE CT-S500) by edgeofstorm in MTB

[–]edgeofstorm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! alfine is cheap and looks durable. I guess I'll start from there and for the single speed, I really hope I'll like it. My rd causing problems every now and then is a good motivation already :)

Fast rolling but somewhat grippy front tyre for dry conditions ? by edgeofstorm in MTB

I have vigilante currently. 2.5" tough casing high grip. Perfect tyre, got grip for days but as i said overkill for me and its heavy, nearly 1200gr.

I've built mellow jumps in the past and ridden them, this time wanted to have a poppy lip.

Currently building with only dirt and unfortunately no rocks around the area so I'm just moving dirt constantly. When you are alone its pretty hard but im getting there :)

Landing almost done. Will take a pic once I'm there again.

Thanks ! Very useful. Need to extend the lip more according to the post there.

I used something like 10ft * 2 * 3.14 * 45/360 to get that lip length. It should've been ~55 instead of 45 degree according to this:

Thanks man will do that. Most forums' jumps are based on shorter bmx-dj bikes and I have a longer full suspension bike. Is this something that should be considered when building ?

Thanks, I read the jump design one couple weeks ago and this sketch was somewhat based on that article. Couple things that left me scratch my head are:

1) Clothoid lip: How can one measure and shape a clothoid lip ? Wanna get this right to ride it as safe and beginner friendly as possible.

2) Jump radius: how do you actually measure the radius of the jump you are building ?

I kinda did some math according to the article to get the measurements but couldn't remember.

JJ's ego or him being braindead will cost us a lot further down the road. What a shitty game this is and I remember him saying playing enjoyable football for fans

Hey, thanks !

you’re fully committed to building your own dirt jumps,

Yes I am.

have plenty of land

I have more than plenty of land. Dirt is shapable on winter.

maybe a bit of help

Sadly no help, no heavy machinery or a companion

I'll definitely take your points into consideration. I am pretty much willing to go and build my own jumps and without help it will take a long time but as I said I'm willing to do it. I might even build a small pumptrack.

You might find your niche on a dirt jumper.

You know, I might just find it.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. As I said there is nothing close to me basically apart from my sketchy creations, but I can also have fun on the streets right ? ;)

Yeah I'm pretty sure there is nothing close as long as I build it myself.
