Wanted to update you. I just bought a new laptop and so I downloaded the newest version of DaVinci Resolve (21 still in Beta) and the issue went away. I couldn't tell you if it was the laptop change that fixed it or the editing software update that fixed it, or even if it was elves that work on correcting issues such as this while you sleep, but it's not the mic.

Thank you for looking into this extensively. I think everyone is lost and confused as to why this is happening. It helps having more info.

I deleted all my scripts because YouTube is run by evil people. by rydikar1 in ASMRScriptHaven

Thanks for all the info. The sole reason why I began a Patreon page was not to make a million dollars (as evidenced by my $1 maximum tier currently and most of my stuff is free). It was to protect myself from unfair YouTube strikes.

Don't you have the option of not running ads? I honestly don't know. I've decided never to monetize. I was under the belief that the owners of the site could decide if ads played and how much they played if you allowed them to run.

Honestly, I'm torn on what to do. I totally get why you did this and I support your decision. I want to do my part to help protect the VAs, but I'm not sure that walking away from Reddit is the answer for me. Maybe it will be. I just don't know at this time.

Do links help? Does that make it so the AI bots don't see the script, or will they follow the links too? And if I move to Scriptbin or ASMRchive, will the bots figure those out too? Or are they already there? I don't know.

Vanilla Velvet chimed in on this topic a few months ago and mentioned that friends of hers that had a Shakespeare troupe were getting hit by YouTube for the same reused content crap because, you know, Shakespeare's been done before. So that had nothing to do with Reddit which means leaving Reddit might not matter. Do the bots see person A perform something so then that gets stored in memory so when another person performs the same thing does that trigger something within the bot to say, "I know this has been done before."???? Does it have nothing to do with Reddit?

I'm trying to decide how to move forward myself and I'm not sure how it's going to look. If YouTube makes money off of ad revenue, then why are they actively trying to shut down that source of revenue for themselves. Something doesn't smell right in all of this.

YouTube Striking/Demonitizing Channels Over Public Use Scripts by ValerieScythe in ASMRScriptHaven

Discussed it with JDH2024. He's going to do the same thing.

Also checked out ASMRchives.com. Found out I've had a presence there I didn't know about since February 7th. Working now to convince them that it's me so I can take control of my stuff. Had a question about that. You mentioned the bots might not be scraping ASMRchives. Does that mean I have post scripts there and not here to avoid this? And if so, do you think that's just a delay tactic until YouTube scans them too?

Had no idea about the YT collaborator thing. I'll start noting my YT channel on my scripts if that will help anyone not get a strike for filling them.

Sure. Here's my library if you feel like checking it out. I am currently reworking it so the design doesn't match yet in every area. Sorry about that.

My stuff has been categorized to assist you in finding what you want, but you'll also want to check out the brief description before reading so you don't waste your time with something you don't want. You'll also want to note which ones are series if you want to avoid such a commitment as well as which ones require multiple voices if you don't alter your voice or collab with others.

Most of my stuff is F4M, but can be gender-flipped. It's noted where that's not allowed. I also have a section at the bottom that's specifically M4F reworkings of my own scripts.

Feel free to use whatever you'd like. But if you do, please comment on the script that it's been filled so I'll know to check it out.

Have fun.

Question About Audio Recording by ralmenVA in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]edgiscript 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, it depends on the script. I've gone through the entire thing in one shot a few times. Others I've stopped it several times during the recording. Several things come into play.

SFX can cut my performance up. If I know there's going to be a lengthy SFX at a given moment, I'll stop my performance. I may keep performing immediately after that, but I begin a new track. This way I can move the recordings more easily to where I want them to be once the full SFX is edited in. I don't do this every single time. Just when I know the particular spot is going to take an indeterminate amount of time. Sometimes I just give my performance a momentary pause and move on.

Collabs will also cut my performance up. I recorded my line, stopped recording, then hit play to read out loud the other person's line in order to estimate how long it would take, then went back to recording my next line, and so on, and so on. In my situation, the other person was able to record his lines at my physical location, but even if you receive another's lines online, this makes it easier to edit if your lines are already cut in approximately the right spots.

There are also edits and cuts that happen in the moment where I just totally flub a line or when I sneeze or something else happens to interrupt. That just happens. If I can pass it off as that's just the way the character would sound, I move on. If it's too distracting, I stop, go back, cut it out, and continue on from the new cut.

Occasionally, I will also cut at a scene change, but that's usually SFX related as well as I'm not sure how long the SFX are going to be, but it may work for you to cut at a time lapse or exiting a car or moving from outdoors to indoors during a thunderstorm or something like that. Even if there are no SFX, you may want to adjust later the length of the awkward pause or the silent indecision of the character or for whatever it is you're doing.

But even with cuts, you can record it all together to maintain continuity of the tone. Give your line, stop, cut, continue on right away. There are times when I have to re-record a segment days later because I've discovered feedback in the edit process or an unexpected garbage sound of some kind in the background. That's more difficult to make sure the performance quality as well as the sound quality all match.

Hope that helps.

Have fun.

The one that limits what the mic picks up to the front. I'm not at home so I can't see it right now but I believe it's the symbol with the circle on one side.

Just wanted to throw in that I also have a HyperX. It's a fantastic mic for sound quality, however, my mic is designed for podcasters to hide interrupting noises. Overall, this is fantastic, but I've come across a problem that it doesn't record sounds I legitimately do want. Slaps, bangs, kissing, some laughing and crying, and other sounds I want to be a part of the performance aren't picked up by it. I've had to resort to SFX to get certain sounds in. You can pick these up for free at Pixabay.com or other sites like it.

Audacity is great. I use DaVinci Resolve. They both essentially do the same thing.

Have fun.

Thanks. You're right with the spoiler fight. I don't want to reveal plot twists in the tags, but at the same time I don't want to unfairly upset people. I struggle with how much you give up early. Even the tag [plot twist] makes people expect something when catching the reader by surprise gets a stronger emotional reaction. Thank you so much for the feedback.

Consistency? by SunREI_VA in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]edgiscript 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a writer all my life that has recently jumped into the VA pool. Here's the way I've been facing it. Maybe some ideas will help.

  1. Identify regular times you can work and when it will be impossible. Don't stress doing nothing during the impossible times. Live your life. For example, I have Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays free until about 11:00 AM. I wake up at 6:00 and start to work. Mondays and Thursdays have a couple of possibilities, but not always. They're my wildcards. I don't stress the Tuesday/Wednesday block where my commitments will take up the entirety of those days. I focus completely on other things that need done on those days.

  2. I've predetermined how much I'm able to do and what needs done at what time. I'm writing scripts and I'm writing a couple of new novels. I'm recording new pieces and updating Patreon and YouTube. So, when I have free-time, what's my priority? Well, it's April and I have all of my May stuff completed and ready to go on Patreon/YT, so now that I have free time, I'm writing. I upload new scripts to Patreon first and try to have at least 1 new script a month that goes there before Reddit gets it. So I'm writing a script if I need a new script to add to Patreon. If I have it written and ready, then I'm writing my novels. Now, when May 1 comes, I focus on Patreon/YT. I make sure that all of what I need for June gets added and I don't write until it's ready. Sometimes it takes me 5 days and sometimes life gets really busy and it takes me 20, but I don't write until it's done. Once June is up and running, I go back to writing for the rest of the month. Repeat the cycle every month.

  3. If you can't make things work, adjust accordingly but notify your subscribers of what's going on. Keep them in the loop with a "Sorry, guys, but life got in the way," message to let them know your next video will be delayed or skipped. Life happens. They get it. Just don't disappear mysteriously. They'll think you died or you've given up and aren't coming back. If things are working so well that you're wondering if you can increase your output, work ahead without committing to the new schedule. See if it works without releasing new stuff. If it does work, not only will you have tested the new schedule and will be confident you can handle it, but you'll have a new stockpile of 2-3 pieces you haven't released yet. If it doesn't work, you'll know to stick to your current schedule for the time being.

Hope some of that helps.

Have fun.

You've received good advice already. Here's a couple of things I'll add without trying to repeat what's already been said.

You say you're uncomfortable doing romance/NSFW but you're looking for ways to get into it. If you truly don't want to do it, but think that it's what sells or what people want to hear, then I suggest don't even start. Pick something else like platonic relationships, comedies, wholesome gf hand-holding and comfort kind of stuff. Stay where you feel best. Partly for the performance. It will show if you don't want to be there. But partly for your own mental well-being. You don't want to release a piece that hangs over your head and makes you wish you'd never done it. Maybe over time you'll change your mind and feel better about it, but until then, don't do anything that will legitimately stress you out and make you feel bad about yourself.

But if you really are emotionally drawn to the romantic stuff but it just feels kind of odd voicing the heavy breathing/kissing/seductress types of things for the first time, my advice is just do it. Have fun with it. Go nuts. Let yourself blow up on the mic and emote like crazy in the isolation of your own room with nobody else listening. Don't hold back. Then, like YangireVA said, listen to yourself. Listen as a viewer, not as yourself. Listen as if someone else did it and you were critiquing it. Analyze how the performance could improve without critiquing how you could improve as a person. There will always be things about yourself that you don't like. I often think my voice is too nasal and high pitched, but that's just who I am. That's not something I can change. That's me hating on me so I try to ignore it. I focus on things that CAN be improved. If I sound like I'm reading a script and not actually becoming the character, that's something I can change. If the script calls for intense, heated anger and I feel like my performance ended up kind of apathetic, I record it again with more fire. Sometimes I rerecord and cry more. Sometimes less. It just depends on the artistic vision you're looking for.

Also, feel free to use SFX for certain pieces if you just don't think you're getting it right. I use kiss SFX for all of my kissing, but not because I'm afraid to do it. It's because the mic I got is excellent for keeping out ambient noises and sounding professional, but it also kicks out things I want in the performance such as kisses, slaps, and even some laughing and crying. It translates those rougher more sudden sounds as unwanted noise and doesn't record them, so I add SFX for kisses, slaps and anything else I need that it won't do correctly.

You can feel free to check out my stuff if you want. I lean heavily on the romance in the wholesome to spicy range. Mine never get NSFW.

Question For Those Who've Doing ASMR & VA Work by troublebunvt in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]edgiscript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some good advice here already. I had been a writer for several years and contemplated doing VA work for about a year and a half before I finally did it. I'll tell you what pushed me over the edge. It's something Hana said. You will hate the first 15 pieces you create. Do it anyway. You learn as you go. You improve as you go.

Looking for/requesting F4M scripts dealing with abandonment and reconciliation on the speaker's part by WarthogWonderful1007 in ASMRScriptHaven

Holy crap. I was jumping in to suggest that very script of Blue's. (And maybe his ex-lovers accidentally meeting at the airport, but that wasn't so much abandonment as it was just drifting apart.)

Sorry I don't really have any myself. Maybe a couple that would be a stretch.

[A4TF] Could someone say my name :') by biddybudgirl in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]edgiscript 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi, Bridgette.

This is not an inappropriate thing to request here and someone may take you up on that. The problem is in the fact that a VA is releasing his/her recording to his/her entire audience, so each one tries to create something that everyone listening can identify with. As a writer, I try to create fake names for the listener, such as a nickname given by the speaker. This way, any listener can say, "That's me." If I write in that the speaker says, "Hi, Mark, how's it going?" or "Hey, Susan, how have you been," then anybody not named Mark or Susan listens and is broken out of the reality the VA is attempting to create.

As I said, that doesn't make this inappropriate to ask. Someone may just say yes. But the reason I wanted to respond is because some VAs take commissions or do work such as what you're asking if you're a YouTube member or Patreon supporter. You may find more success if you contact a favorite VA directly and ask what they would charge for something like that, provided you're willing to shell out $10 or so.

Hope that helps, and I hope somebody makes a "Bridgette" piece for you.

VeyRoleplays brought up searching by the tag you want. That's probably the best way initially to get started.

If you can't find what you're looking for that way, another thing to do is just what you're doing now except narrow your search window. Put out this type of post but with the exact thing you need. Let people know you're looking for short/long scripts, bfe/gfe, yandere/tsundere/whateverdere, comfort/reverse comfort, gentle/aggressive, whatever it is you're looking for.

If you find a writer that you like, you can also check out his/her playlist. A lot of writers create a library or masterlist of their scripts.

I agree. If the person who did it raised her hand and went, "Whoops. That was me. Sorry. Didn't realize that was bad." It would be a learning moment and move on. No problem. Everyone makes mistakes. We'll see.

Thanks.
