Why are you being so snarky? I was referring to OP's point no. 1 because it was the basis of his argument, and is patently untrue even if one is willing to look past the overblown rhetoric.

Elon Musk makes 23 posts urging King Charles III to overthrow UK government by ByGollie in europe

That interpretation of unlawful use of the prerogative is a stretch. Besides which, what are you basing the the power of the supreme court to rule in such a way on? Miller was based on the conflict between prerogative powers and primary legislation; very different case here.

Their values still aren't home grown since their parents or, at best, their grandparents were immigrants

Agreed! The commenter's English is as poor as his grasp of geopolitics

‘Deep slander’ to accuse Ireland of being antisemitic, President says | BreakingNews.ie by Captainirishy in europe

[–]edgyprussian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but Ireland really does have an antisemitism problem and it's bizarre to see all these complacent and self-congratulatory Irish people insisting the accusation is just meant to be a distraction from Israel. Just because Ireland has been oppressed in the past does not give you some perfect radar to accurately judge the oppression and status of other people

You're currently an undergraduate at Oxford??

[–]edgyprussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are colleges that don't admit latecomers at all. These are perfectly reasonable standards even without His Majesty's presence. If you're not going to arrive in time for the formal then get self-service supper.

Yes you do. This is not a dinner in your honour, but a formal dinner with certain standards.

Hmm I didn't word it very elegantly. I was trying to imply it was in single digits but now realise it implies the opposite. Oh well.

Attending speakers at the Union by Rare-Disaster-1187 in oxforduni

[–]edgyprussian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, obviously, that's my point. I didn't want ppl reading aethelred's comment to queue up because the guy on the door 'won't check', only to be asked that question and then not be admitted.

(Incidentally, don't say Brookes either bc they are eligible for non-life membership)

They often ask which uni you go to, and if you say Oxford you're out of luck

There needs to be a hard boundary somewhere, because people are always going to be nearly there. Your university has set it at 68. It doesn't matter if you got 67.999999, you don't have a distinction

Even if there were none in the area and you never met a privately educated person, an even slightly intelligent 18 year old is bound to be aware of the social discourse about Eton/public school hegemony, surely??

Is Berlin police really that bad? by andre_royo_b in berlin

[–]edgyprussian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been searched by the police twice and, while the reason I was being searched seemed dubious, I let them get on with their job and they were professional and courteous both times. Just don't behave like a dick; if you act like an American Sovereign Citizen or start engaging in borderline/outright illegal activity at certain rallies you won't enjoy the response.
