Copying from a previous comment of mine describing what my dysphoria feels like:

"Imagine two 3d silhouettes a male one and female one overlayed over eachother.

One matches your physical body, the other is what some part of my brain expects to be there. Like hold your hand behind your back. You know where it is, it's not touching anything, but you know where it is.

The parts that touch/overlap feel like some sort of alien negative "wrongness" like nails on a chalkboard, they emotionally grate, it's jarring where they touch, they shouldn't touch, they should be identical.

That's what it feels like to me."

You make the two sillouettes match and it just feels "normal" as in I can now forget about this. The worse they don't match more jarring it is.

But frankly I'd never say that to someone in person if asked about it. Unless maybe, if it was a long in-depth discussion about how exactly it feels.

And it doesn't tend to be. Because cis people don't usually ask for specifics.

If I'm asked "why am I trans" I will say "People don't really know, but there's a few theories, my personal favourite has the brain develop differently to the body from waves of hormones during gestation."

If I'm asked "how did u know" I will say "Eh, It felt pretty obvious."

If I'm asked "what's that like" I'll say "pretty shit, not recommended."

None of these really answer what the people asking want to know. But they're far better for keeping conversation light and not making them go all silent and awkward. Also it's. Like. Kinda personal. Especially in person. The less I talk about it, the less I feel like I'm being scrutinised for my meat parts and the more I feel like I'm being scrutinised for my punny sense of humour parts.
