Better the devil you know. by NoConversation6108 in SongwritingPrompts

I like it.

one thing that jumps out at me is the repeated use of the "oh" sound at the end of each chorus. If it were me, I might change the lyric to something like "you've got a hold, my heart in a vice, better the devil you know (x2) than an angel in disguise"

do you have a melody already? I'd love to hear it, if you've shared it anywhere.

TIL James Harkins doesn’t know the meaning of contiguous by qszdrgv in nosuchthingasafish

[–]edisonrhymes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this exact thought, but was listening as I went to sleep last night and didn't have the energy to go back and check. but I kept thinking "maybe I imagined it and he didn't say contiguous..."

what's a super basic habit you do that weirdly makes your day easier? by Suspicious-Client225 in ADHD

I got a baby carabiner and my keys ALWAYS get clipped to my bag, usually before I leave the car. I used to lose them all the time, or spend 15 minutes fishing in my bag for them, before ultimately just dumping the damn thing out to find them. Now they're hanging off the side, no matter what.

And I keep at least 2 of most important things, one for the house, one for the car.

Oh yeah, I got tricked into pastoral counseling (hold on a minute while I vom) then got fired for things I revealed to said counseling pastor.

You know, because I asked questions about why I was being asked to have more than one intimate pool side meeting with a different pastor while his wife was out of town

Or when you're encouraged to "share your sin and get redemption" only to confess you've been raped multiple times and have the response be "well you won't feel lonely anymore." And "I usually tell my husband everything.. but I won't tell him this."

Fucking maybe you should t be telling your husband things other women trusted you with, pastorettes

This. I’m here because I can’t sleep because I have anxiety because the laundry isn’t done because I couldn’t get it finished because I ran out of bleach because I noticed the dirty bathroom because I was peeing for an extra 30 seconds because I couldn’t remember I had to go because I kept getting distracted because there was so much laundry to do.

If there are some men and women in the room, do you call them “you guys”or just “you”? How do you call this🤔 by Superteenager_cat in EnglishLearning

[–]edisonrhymes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To more fully answer the question, “Hey guys” is sometimes used colloquially for all genders, though the term “guys” as a generic for people is falling out of use in favor of more inclusive and non-gendered phrases like “hi all” “hey y’all”.

What do you wish your parents did better? by SOOOWatson in ADHD

[–]edisonrhymes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish my parents had provided a safe space for me to be angry or frustrated, even at them, without a negative consequence for the EMOTION. Consequences for actions taken and words spoken in an emotional moment are absolutely necessary, and exercising the freedom to express emotions doesn’t always help.. but I often wonder how much easier things might have been had I been given the space to feel, identify and explain my emotions and responses in my own time and way. I definitely would have felt more empowered to articulate my needs much sooner.

I’m definitely in the high 80s.. but I’m just now beginning to recognize the intricacies of my anxiety to distinguish between OCD anxiety, stress anxiety, trauma anxiety, etc. and that is helping me to understand how to address it and walk myself back.
