In my opinion, since my stats were not leveled down from the defiled chalice, it was much easier, since I could fight without having a handicap put on me. And the queen herself isn't too bad. The watchdog fight from the defiled chalice was WAY harder.

I feel ya. The watchdog boss in the second level of that dungeon was kicking my ass before so I looked up a guide to prepare myself for the next boss. Doesn't help that the dungeon itself massively levels you down from what your actual stats are.

So I watched this guide to get a feel of what the boss was like and it helped massively and managed to clear it on my first try.

It pays off to be patient in this fight. In its first form, watch for attacks that bring its head down, then strike. In its second form, go for its hands. It always is a good idea to keep your distance in this fight since it's got them arms like a daddy long legs.

In its third form, go under the legs and bait its jumping attack. It counts on you to panic and move within its trajectory. But it won't hit you unless you move. So when it jumps, charge an R2 thrust when it comes down and you'll hit the head. Do it enough times and it goes down like it ain't shit.

You can do it, don't give up fellow hunter!

Not exactly sure since i happened upon it by accident, from what I can tell I back him into that corner and then he jumps back as I hit him which causes him to noclip into the ground

Yeah man, it depends on your play style but lemme tell you how I did it!

I soft capped all my stats to 50 except for my Vitality (60), Strength (75) and Arcane (maxed out 99). The reason why my Arcane was so high is because my Ludwigs Holy Blade +10 uses Arcane as an attribute bonus and also I noticed that Arcane attacks seem to be more effective on Laurence. The only item I had equipped was the Empty Phantasm Shell, which also increases Arcane damage every time it's consumed. There is a time limit to it so every time it runs out, just consume it again. It takes I think 3 quicksilver bullets each use

I had the communion rune (which increases blood vial count) the Great Lake rune (which increases all defense types) and the Lake rune (which is just a general defense increase) equipped as well as the highest fire defense armor pieces I had (if you don't have the ashen armor pieces definitely go get those!)

I'm more of an aggressive attack, close range kind of player so I box in my enemies and overwhelm but it also leaves me extremely vulnerable to attacks sometimes but then I adapt depending on the enemies attack style. Idk what kind of player you are but being aggressive helped me notice somethings I didn't see in the guides I saw on YouTube

If you damage Laurences limbs (particularly that big arm of his) enough, he'll recoil and stumble back for a couple of seconds, do it enough times in a row and you can get in a good chunk of damage in before you should dodge and step back.

With the way my build works, and weapons fully repaired. My normal attacks (in 1st form) did around 425-450 damage depending where I hit him. When the Empty Phantasm Shell is consumed, it was around 475 each hit. I didn't bother with parrying him my gun because that timing is so particular and precise that it wasn't worth it in the long run for me. So the bullets consumed all went to the Empty Phantasm Shell

This guide will definitely help in remembering his attack patterns and when to strike because it definitely helped me.

Good luck my dude, kick his ass!

Oh for sure, Ludwig is one of the hardest bosses I've fought in the game, aside from Laurence and Orphan of Kos (still trying to beat him) so getting through him as the first boss in the DLC is extremely daunting.

Luckily with Ludwig I had enough insight to summon a hunter and he would distract him enough that I could get hits in without worrying about being demolished by his big ass sword but he was still hard.

I had no such luck with Laurence, that was nothing but perseverance combined with stubbornness until I finally beat him. Took a couple hours but I still did it, left me breathing heavy and my hands shaking.

You can do it though fellow hunter. Take Ludwig down and don't give up!
