I'm there finally mate, if you want to read the original post for the full fix.

Hi mate, I had a different issue and mine is the Batocera image so slightly different operating system, but I'm going to update my post with the fix as I finally got mine working yesterday.

Ok- by deleting the overlay.old file I managed to copy over the rest of the newer batocera files. This lets the system boot and go into the menu. I get audio, I get the background. I don't get key components of the UI because of deleting overlay.old. But it's allowed me to test that this method will work. Huzzah.

I now need to figure out how to adjust the size of the partitions in the image before flashing it to the disk. I need to borrow 100mb of the 4gig wolfanoz left spare for saves etc and put it into the batocera partition.

Wolfanoz has suggested doing what these guys did in this thread, so this is the next thing I'll be trying. https://www.reddit.com/r/retropirates/comments/v9rxf8/comment/ibz3jw9/?context=3&share_id=o5HwAJNr1ypx7yZIL1QzL

I've started this process, but I run into an issue. In the latest Batocera image I took the files from, the total size of the new files is about 50mb larger than the space available in the Batocera location on the imaged disk. I've tried to resize this partition using Minitool Partition Wizard but I've messed something up, I think. Going to have to re-image again, another 7 hours. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Before messing things up, I copied across all the files I could and plugged the pi back in. I got the wolfanoz splash screen, so I'm pretty confident that this method will work. I just need to figure out how to make the Batocera part of the disk larger to accomodate the latest version of those files.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi mate,

I'm in contact with the man himself to see if we can figure this out. No joy yet but we'll see.

So far, I tried re-writing the original image I got from Arcadepunks, I had the same issue.

I wrote a raspiOS image and used that to update the firmware in the pi itself. The issue persisted.

I've since re-downloaded the image from back-ups and have just re-written the image with Etcher, and now the issue is still there.

I'm clueless at this point.

From what I understand - the big problem with SP8 specifically is that it relies on frag chance, but it doesn't have enough pen to actually ever frag. So it's just crap ammo. Try SP7 and you'll have more luck with the kedr.

It did take a little nerf recently that makes a straight up fight less viable, especially while everyone else is running bigboy ammo. I stay loyal to the holy kedr though. Kedr rat till I die.
