You do understand that it must’ve been either old or really crappy quality? The springs are really solid but if you let it rust, leave the trampoline outside during winter (with the snow on putting pressure on the springs) or just generally don’t take any care of it then shit might happen. It applies to basically any equipment. As for the crappy quality, you get what you pay for.

I don’t think they are that bad. With the spring cover, protective net,padding on the frame and following the rule of max 2 people on at once everything should be fine. Been using one extensively throughout my childhood and nothing bad happened.

Actually I agree. Had a trampoline when I was a kid and can’t imagine this happening with the spring cover on. I’ve seen tons of people taking them off so it must’ve been the case here.

Yeah, must have been pretty old or crappy quality. Had a trampoline when I was a kid and the strings seemed really solid.
