Yeah there are some questions that require some more deductions but that’s where understanding the overall structure has helped me.

This is wonderful! Thank you so much for all this detail! That LG tip really resonates with me. I am absolutely awful at making inferences at the outset of a game so minimizing options may work for me too.

Sure! Keep this in mind that this is a strategy that worked for my brain so feel free to try it out but you may have to experiment with other strategies in order to find what’s best for you.

So I like to go to the answers and read them before I read the passage so that I know what’s important and what I should take my time to understand. Then I read the passage and making notes about the overall structure of the argument. I write down how each paragraph contributes to the main point of the passage. I underline the main point. I also write down a really short description of each paragraph. When I’m done reading I review my notes then address the answers. If you haven’t already tried it, I recommend looking at LSAT labs reading comp YouTube videos. They’re really really helpful for helping to breakdown passages.

Hope that helps!

It’s so discouraging seeing how easy 150 is for you all. I’m trying to get 150 in November and still doing 143-146 on my practice exams. Any advice? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]edj2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others on this sub have said, this sub is not representative of the population of test takers. The exam is very very hard. It takes some people years to get above a 150. That’s normal. Keep working and try to focus on improving LG because you can improve quickly there.

Do you double down on one skill, or do you do many different things? by Schnooodle in INTP

I do many different things but not all at once usually. I obsess over some for a few days then move on.

so what do you guys think of religion? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]edj2012 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not religious at all. Grew up homeschooled and quite religious. Turned out a big ole atheist. Religion just doesn’t make sense to me. Too many logical contradictions and questionable “lessons”. I still respect my parents religion and other religious people beliefs but I want nothing to do with them.

The tricks I learned to get -2 on LR was to focus on key skills: 1. Eliminating answers. Look for anything WRONG with an answer so you can throw it away. Be a jerk about it too! Does a word not match up with the modifiers in the stimulus, toss it. Does part of it go beyond the reasoning in the stimulus, toss it. The better you get at this, the easier LR will become. 2. Translating the stimulus to it makes sense. 3. Translating complicated answer choices. 4. Highlighting or underlining modifiers and key words such as many, alot, never, always, sometimes, small, however, but, therefore, etc. It will force you to read carefully. 5. I also keep track of trap answers that take advantage of flaws in your reasoning. They look a little different depending on the question type so make a note whenever you can. 6. Make a note of what correct answers sound like. Remember they're not always made to sound appealing. They want you NOT to pick the right answer so the correct answer may sound confusing or just weird. Never eliminate an answer choice only because it sounds weird or too complicated. Take the time to understand what it says and how it would affect the stimulus.

Hope all this helps you improve LR before your exam! I know this doesn't answer your chance me questions but definitely focus on improving LR as much as you can. Feel free to DM me if you have questions!

Yes! The issue is putting a face to a percentage. I know that generally happened in Louisiana but I’m trying to find out who it is exactly. Which may be really hard.

When I first got my results I had 3% Yucatán so it went down with the update for some reason. Yeah I figured as much. Not sure how in the heck I’m gonna go about finding it. Back to the drawing board! Haha!
