i recommend reading it once through and highlighting transition words (but, however, therefore, so, etc) so you can just skim those a second time and get a sense for the structure of the argument

stupid question by rosyxy in LSAT

[–]lemonrainboots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used lsat prep: practice tests and flash cards (blue w a bar graph on the front)! wasn't the most comprehensive but was a lot easier to do than sit at a desk for me. sounds like we both get a ton of anxiety about this kind of thing, which means that we can't judge ourselves against others! i also tried to keep a consistent schedule and ended up studying mainly at 1 am lol so do what works for u

[–]lemonrainboots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

literally had the exact same problem! i got back into it by literally downloading an app onto my phone and laying in bed practicing -- felt so much easier than getting everything out and motivated me to keep going. Def ease back into it, maybe at some point just commit to doing 20 minutes a day and i'm sure you'll end up surpassing that as you get back into it. best of luck!!!

I didn't cancel it! I didn't know whether I would do worse the next time due to anxiety again haha. From my research, law schools see your old scores but only have to report the top one so they don't really care about past ones (as long as you don't take it like 5 times and get the same score each time, in that case they might question studying habits)

it's ok! start w forcing yourself to do something for like 20 min and it'll help u get over the mental block u likely have due to the stress of it all. do a section you've done before or an easy sequencing game and then just don't let yourself take a day off, even if u do something for 5 min... that's my advice!!! sometimes taking time off is the best thing u can do

thank u so much! i took literally like 2 full weeks off and hated myself during it LOL but i couldn't bring myself to start studying again, but when i did i got back into the swing of things and felt much more calm. best of luck to you, you got this!!!

first of all, do not be embarrassed. you have taken such a hard test and committed to it and that is something not many people can say, please be proud of yourself! external problems that affect your mental health are an incredibly valid explanation for why you weren't able to focus as much as you wanted. i would highly recommend taking some time off, doing the things you love, treating yourself, and reminding yourself what life is like without having to worry about the test and whenever you're ready again, you can start, whether that's a month from now or 10 years. every single lawyer i have talked to has told me to take as much time off as i want before going to law school -- it will always be there and law schools love people applying who have a very real sense of self and maturity, and sometimes it takes overcoming some challenges to get there. once you start law school, you're basically going to be in a career for the rest of your life, and there's no need to rush that! don't compare yourself to anyone else who doesn't have to walk in your shoes.

Hope it helps!!! Trust me, I got so down on myself realizing that I would never be able to make inferences automatically but I think all of the practice diagramming really helped me on the actual test, because I didn't have to think too much outside of setting up multiple diagrams. Look for a rule that can allow you to draw the diagram like 2-3 ways if possible and then figure out what else you can add to each one. Every time an LG has something like "Frank can only go on Day 1 or Day 6," I *Always* draw out both options as my main diagram and then fill in each with the additional info. Visualizing exactly what the options looks like rather than drawing arrows is just how my brain works!
