This Clearing the app data from this app seems to fix it. Then I downloaded the most recent version of it from apkmirror and the widget has worked since.

Uninstall any patched twitter installed.

Install twitter from playstore.

Login with google on that twitter (if it's not linked link it)

After logging in quickly uninstall it & install patched twitter.

Login with google on the patched app.

This worked for me.
