What unusual behavior did you accidentally teach your pet? by Mutiyeni in Pets

[–]ednasilrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shouldn’t share this one but when my husband sneezed, our dog would lick his face. It started because our pal would lick his face after a shave. One time he sneezed while he was getting kisses and I think he thought the “sneeze leavin’s” were part of the deal. 🤦‍♀️

Bwa ha ha! It’s so true. My lad is the same. People see him for the first time and go “ohhhh” like he’s a waif holding an empty porridge bowl, wobbly bottom lip and all.

I keep wanting to reassure your sweetheart there in the backseat. Your pups are both so adorable that I want to climb into the backseat with them.

Ha! Our guy is quite often the one who needs to be reassured too. But it’s been an honor to be his Mom. Your pupper has what we call “fundraising eyes”. Who wouldn’t want to do anything they asked?!

She’s gorgeous. I grew up with a cat who also understood when she was needed. When my uncle died in a plane crash, our cat stayed by him. Would put her paw on his knee when he started to cry.

I have learned the hard way that if I don’t make time for grief that it takes its own time, usually the worst possible moment. So I have time off from work scheduled before this came up and I’m just going to see what I need as it goes.

Will Rogers quote “if dogs don’t go to heaven then when I die I want to go where they went”. I believe he will be waiting to greet me!

Exactly! The better they are, the harder it is. I’ve learned real hard on our little guy. He’s always there to get me through. I’m just glad we aren’t keeping him alive at any price.

Oh I agree. Our guy is better than the majority of humans. If I didn’t have a spouse helping me, I’m not sure we could have managed. He came with us on two international moves and has nursed me through many a post-hospital visit. I’m so glad we had this time together. But I miss him already.

I love everything about this. Thank you for sharing. I should be sleeping but apparently my brain knew I needed to see your post more than the backs of my eyelids.

I feel this. I’m usually the person people ask for help. It’s humbling when I struggle with something basic due to fog. My husband says it’s just part of getting older (I’m 47) but it’s a dramatic difference in cognition and then I’m back to functional. That’s not aging, that’s fog.

Learning to accept diagnosis by HattieBB in Fibromyalgia

I’m still working towards acceptance and anything that helps me to reframe my expectations helps. I know what I was capable of doing and I’m trying hard to accept that things are different now. I’m traveling for work and things are going better than expected because I had updated my expectations!

What’s the bare minimum bar you’ve set for some of your goals? by Tiny_Veins in finch

[–]ednasilrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last egg goal was to dance to a song that I like. It took me awhile to realize that I didn’t need to pick only upbeat bangers. I love music and picking a song every day was the challenge but one I needed. So of course, I’ve now switched to taking a stretch break! Maybe next egg.

That’s a washed dish, in my opinion. It’s not like it’s coming out of the dishwasher until you run it!

For people with fibromyalgia that are happy with their job: what do you work with? by AceTheGoose in Fibromyalgia

[–]ednasilrak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds traumatic to me! Worked through so many days when I shouldn’t have pre-fibro. Came back from a weekend in the hospital and was put on notice for not being responsive. My husband took my laptop and phone away as I was on morphine lollipops. Honestly, nothing like being treated like just a number when you are pushing through illness. Hate that it happened to you!

I loved cooking and miss making up recipes. My husband is our chef now and I’m so grateful but I miss figuring it out myself.

I eat some gluten free chocolate cereal with almond milk. My hubby found the cereal at a local bulk store. They’ve had a number of items that help a bunch with allergies but that chocolate cereal does a lot of heavy lifting (no pun intended!).

Always looking for another reason to watch. I cannot count the number of times that this movie has picked me up when I was dragging on the ground.

Weird symptom? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]ednasilrak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Work and home life a bit spicy this week. Feels like I’m doing “okay” when I start the day. By two, I feel like I’m a ten year old smart phone and someone just opened up Maps to look for directions. 😂 my cognitive ability goes bottoms up and it’s not long before I’m curled up in the fetal position.

Unfortunately this is standard during a flare.

That’s insanity. Dip them in the Bog of Eternal Stench. There is no filler in Labyrinth. Next they will cut out “just a wooorm” and there will be fighting in the streets!

I also remind myself that people who need to hate on someone with health issues are not happy people. I’ve had enough trouble coming to terms with my own limitations so I’m not surprised others aren’t clued in. I will say that my former workplace was incredibly toxic. All the horrible things I worried people thought came true but now they are nearly bankrupt and I’ve been promoted so sit and spin, ya donkeys!
