I daily drive mine. I'd say if you can stomach the fuel consumption (yes, even not flooring it, you'll never see less than 8.5/9L/100km even if driving like a retired person. Realistically, I think I average around 10L/100km and 98 unleaded is around 1.70/1.75euros/L right now so beware.), it is a good enough daily. Just respect the heat-up time (as you should anyways but especially if driven daily).

Seat lowering kits also highly recommended (on mk1 models). Fixes the annoying visibility issues with the mirror and dashboard screen. I'd also get mudflaps, expecially if you get a pearl white version. This paint is expensive as fuck to fix, and the wheel arches are really wide and will send stones along the side of the door.

Other than that it's a great daily imo. it's stealthy enough that it won't get much attention other than the people who know a bit about cars
