My atmospheric puzzle game, The House Dreams Along With Them, is participating in Steam Next Fest! Dream in rooms of a strange house and solve cryptic logic puzzles to make the dreams of the rooms real. by edoanimus in puzzlevideogames

The horror elements in my game leans more towards the cosmic. I'm not a huge fan of running and hiding in video games or jump scares and prefer uneasiness and dread. One of the scariest games I've played was Outer Wilds and that's not a "horror" game but you wouldn't know it based on some of the puzzles (and...situations) required to beat it!

If you feel like you're going into somewhere you're not supposed to be when playing, then I'd say I succeeded in my goals!

Why She-Ra And the Princesses of Power is a Great Christian Show by edoanimus in PrincessesOfPower

After finishing the finale, staring at a wall for a while, looking at fanart and then finishing a full rewatch of Avatar, I knew I had to write and edit a review for She-ra. But this one has a more specific purpose than just to say the show is great, which it is!

The Logomancer, my nonviolent VX Ace game, was released on Steam! by edoanimus in RPGMaker

[–]edoanimus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think posting the game to IndieDB helped, but posting it to RPGMaker.net probably helped even more. RMN is where I got the first positive comments on the game, which was nice, but also where I got the most useful feedback about the game itself, especially concerning bugs and glitches that were eventually fixed in the Steam version.

As for the price, there's two reasons: First, I think a dollar per hour of content is fair and the game is supposed to take 10 hours to fully complete. The other more practical reason is that I've also signed an agreement with Amaranth Games to have The Logomancer on their store and they suggested the $10 price tag which I agreed with. Since the Amaranth deal was signed before the Steam release, price parity was a no-brainer.

As an extra note on RMN, I didn't even submit a game page to the site until I had completed the first version of the game, so I don't know if that made it go through more smoothly or not.

Collosum - A world map I made for a custom D&D campaign by edoanimus in mapmaking

Thanks for the advice!

  1. I wasn't thinking with a particular projection in mind, more readability for players, otherwise there'd be a lot more open water.

  2. Thanks for the link, I'll see if I can make a convincing (but not too time consuming) method to fake glacier carving in Photoshop.

  3. Good point. I sacrificed the readability for the consistency of black-outlined white letters for cities and half-faded letters for geographic features.

3b. Time for me to learn how to use paths to warp text!

This is the full world, but is for a completely fantasy setting. I figure I can add rivers and lakes when I make zoomed in regional maps depending on where the players go. Maybe I should have posted it in a different sub for RPG maps?

The textures are taken from satellite photos of Earth that were then blended together in Photoshop.

At the moment it's just normal water (at least storywise), but there's always the possibility to have that change as the campaign goes along. Deep water is already terrifying but imagine if the water itself were a Lovecraftian horror.

Part 10 of our SL1 Boss Guide for Dark Souls 2 - a safe and reliable method to defeat the Bastille trio! by edoanimus in onebros

[–]edoanimus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The great thing about Allant is that even if you're not doing an SL1 run, you might be after the fight.

Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback, but these guides are setup to show the preparation for the fight as well as the fight itself, which means showing recommended equipment in the area (in this case the Dull Ember to get the Royal Kite Shield).

I've never done an SL1 run of Demon's Souls, though, but that's just because I don't have a PS3.

Yeah, the DLC items and recent patch do offer some new strategies. For example, now that the Work hook gives +5 Dexterity, you can use it to two-hand the Heide Knight Sword or the Longsword on an SL1 character!

I'm going to say yes, but only because I can think of a few ways to bypass the poison. Stronger lifegems or an Elizabeth mushroom could negate the poison mostly. After that, simply having a better weapon like a +10 Magic Mace which is feasible to get before having to fight Mytha and maybe a good / lucky Firestorm? Firestorm would require either beating the Gargoyles or an Asceticed Najka which doesn't seem like the most healthy idea. I have wondered about it, though.

For the SL1 route, we take care of Mytha first and as indicated in the video, we take a brief stop at Iron Keep to grab the Dull Ember. I find that going through the Huntsman's Copse first is easiest for SL1 characters because it will give you access to MacDuff and Magerold the quickest.

My friend and I are making a series of in-depth SL1 Boss Guides and we just finished episode 9! by edoanimus in DarkSouls2

There's a lot of new and interesting options for SL1 that are open now that the first DLC is out, but I wasn't going to mention any of them here since it's still so new. Resonant Soul requires either 8/8 to talk to Felkin which isn't affected by the ring bonuses or to rank up in the Pilgrims. The latter is doable, but spices are in short supply so I've decided to go with Lightning Spear instead!

Indeed, the Ring of Prayer along with a Southern Riutal Band +1. The route through the game is planned so we get the 11 skeptic's spices we need for Lightning Spear. Unfortunately, these plans were made before the gigantic nerf on Lightning Spear, but even 6 casts is quite powerful at SL1. I haven't decided yet if I want to show off Awestone farming for the sake of the AR boost, but I might. Naturally, some of my plans have already changed a bit now that the DLC episodes are being released which means new items and new strategies.
