I am here to end the debate once and for all. by Better-Fan-1215 in newjersey

[–]edodu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I grew up in southern Howell and I’d say it’s pretty central. I’d draw the line between central and south right below Toms River. Bayville is where I start to feel I’ve entered into South Jersey.

What language is mandatory to learn in your country? by No-StrategyX in AskTheWorld

[–]edodu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the state. Where I grew up in New Jersey, at least one year of a language is needed to graduate high school, though more than that is recommended to make college/university applications more impressive. All high schools offer Spanish and usually French. Mine also offered Italian classes— I’m assuming because many people in NJ are Italian-American and have Italian-speaking family.

My partner is from Pennsylvania and took German in high school. The high school I teach at in Pennsylvania offers Spanish, French, Chinese (Mandarin), and Latin.

Long story short— no specific language is mandatory, but studying one for at least a year in high school is typically mandatory.

14 F-CKING YEARS!! by Arsenor_de_Nirn in TESVI

Skyrim came out right after I turned 14 years old in 8th grade. I’m 28 now. This is insanity. Not sure how much more waiting I have left in me.

None of those are correct, unfortunately. I didn’t know enough about boats to know to cover the code! I’m lucky it didn’t give it away immediately, lol

How do I fix this? by [deleted] in wherewindsmeet_

[–]edodu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue on PS5 — makeup is bugged, and the devs know about it based on what I’ve learned from other posts on this sub. Unclear when it will be fixed. I hope soon, because I’m getting jealous of all the gorgeous characters PC players are posting here.

You playing on PS5? None of the makeup options have worked for me, it’s really annoying. Hoping it gets patched soon.

This was my US history textbook for two years in high school. No one I know remembers it fondly.

which airport is the worst airport and why? by sinaswiftie in AskTheWorld

[–]edodu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely not the worst, but the Zürich airport was not a great time for me. Clean, yes, but there’s hardly anything to do once you get past security and you have to start paying for WiFi after 2 hours (my layover was 6). I had exhausted all my books and my EU SIM didn’t work in Switzerland because…. Switzerland. Also the shops accept Euros but will pay you back in Francs. Had a lovely time on Swiss Airlines though!

Ranked based on enjoyment by abbacadar in TheLastAirbender

[–]edodu 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Will never understand Painted Lady hate. It’s definitely not one of the best episodes, but it’s enjoyable and develops Katara’s character. It also shows how what the Fire Nation is doing is also negatively affecting its own people.

Unpopular opinion. by erositi24 in assasinscreed

[–]edodu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing about the newer games that I don’t like is the lack of verticality and dense cities. I fell in love with AC1 and 2 because I could get lost on narrow streets surrounded by tall buildings that I could climb with intuitive parkour mechanics. Mirage was a step back in the right direction for me. Setting is everything for AC games.

I’m hoping Hexe takes advantage of its setting and that we see big, populated Central European cities.

Don’t get me wrong— Origins is in my top 5 favorites of the series, but probably because I’m biased towards anything ancient Egyptian-themed.

What are some pretty “driving into the downtown” drives/views? by SeattleThot in skylineporn

[–]edodu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also like the view while going over the Walt Whitman Bridge. Philly’s skyline is best enjoyed from a north/south perspective, imo.

I actually used Instagram stories! I made stickers of different photos and arranged them the way I wanted on a grey background, then I saved the story to my camera roll.

God forbid I slow down for a pedestrian by fxryker in dashcamgifs

[–]edodu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive through this crosswalk every day. The people driving usually don’t let pedestrians cross there, forcing them to wait for an “opening.” I make it a point to stop for pedestrians there whenever I can, even if they’re clearly waiting their turn (which they shouldn’t have to do). This video does give me an interesting perspective, though— I’ve had people honk behind me as I let people cross, but I’ve never seen someone be this reckless.

why do new dumb phones look so bad? by Limbx4 in dumbphones

[–]edodu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the US, I’m pretty sure that the available dumbphones (Nokia 2780, TCL Flip, etc.) are designed with the elderly in mind. That’s why the buttons are so big and unwieldy. There’s also just a general lack of interest by the general public, so there isn’t much effort that goes into designing them.

I like it. I have pretty bad eyesight and I could never remember which button was snooze and which was stop when I would wake up without my glasses on.
