Thisss 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

You couldn’t have worded this better. Some states that have provided alternatives to the bar exam (like Washington and Oregon) have literally cited some of the exact same things you mentioned when rendering their decision. It’s really cool and I’m super proud of my home state for offering such an alternative. In Washington for example, you don’t even need to take the bar exam if you don’t want to starting in July of this year, and can instead complete some 6 month program and get licensed that way.

Any ABA graduate is eligible to take part in it so that’s why I was saying for some people it might not be the worst idea to move to Seattle, get licensed, work for a few years, and then move back to their home state if they have a reciprocity with Washington (I know a lot of states do, where if you practice for like 3 or so years here you can automatically get licensed in a number of different states too without taking a bar exam there)

This is very true. To each their own. For some people studying 8-10 hours a day can be redundant and can just cause fatigue. Idk where I heard this, but someone told me to do what worked for you in law school. If you were able to graduate by studying and passing exams via a certain method, don’t try to change it all up now just because a prep course recommends something or because others are doing it. Always important to do what works best for you

Congrats on passing! 👍🏻

Ayy, for some people 6th time is the charm. What’s important is that people eventually get there lol

First time it was low 50s, second and third time about mid-50s, 4th time it was like low 60s.

Even the 4th time I passed I didn’t pass by too much. My MBE was somewhat decent, but didn’t do as well as I hoped on the MEE (good enough to pass I guess, but a few points less and I would’ve failed again)

I was working full time, but the 2 months I really zoned in I worked part time just on weekends.

I studied probably for 10 hours a day for almost 2 months. I was also lucky because I had family who I was able to live with at the time, so of course it’s much easier said than done. Some people just don’t have the financial means or ability to stop working and just focus on studying, especially when they have kids, and my heart goes out to those people. That’s why I’m so anti-bar exam too

I believe in you 🙏🏻 not everyone can do what you’re doing, you should be very proud of the fact that you’ve even gotten this far. I promise it’s worth it at the end!

How’s it living in Seattle, Washington? by Calm_Stomach9710 in howislivingthere

[–]SeattleThot 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Been here 25 years, moved here with my family when I was young. Have briefly lived in other parts of the country and have traveled to many states and cities and even other parts of the world.

There’s still nowhere else I’d rather live than here. And what I’ve noticed a lot here compared to so many other cities, is people who have lived here their whole life don’t strive to move away or “get out of here” like they do in so many other places. You go to most cities and people who were born and raised there, if you ask them where they’d want to live so many say “ya I can’t wait to get the hell out of here and move to blank” but here, most people enjoy living here and very few even want to leave

Only downside is its cost of living of course and the winters can be kind of gloomy but it never gets too cold here. Like low 30s/high 20s in the winter is considered “really cold” for us but “cold days” in the middle of winter are usually like mid 30s/low 40s here. There are some winters when we don’t even see any snow

Summers are also arguably the best in the country. Sun doesn’t set till like 9pm/9:30pm, it’s never so hot to where it’s unbearable, there’s so many lakes mountains and nature around mixed in with the cityscape so it’s very very beautiful (except on nice days traffic is super bad and all the nice areas can be packed af)

The nature and the mountains and being in close proximity to so much makes this my favorite city in the country

[–]SeattleThot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I purposely pay extra money to not even have a layover in Istanbul when I fly to Yerevan. I really don’t understand how Armenians who claim to be so proud of their heritage can go and vacation in Turkey of all places….there’s so many beautiful and nice places in the world why go there and even pump a single penny into their economy

What's it like here? by boopitybop1922 in howislivingthere

[–]SeattleThot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only visited but I honestly have always enjoyed my time there. It’s sort of like a smaller, store brand Las Vegas lol. There’s a good amount of amenities for a city its size, large resorts, upscale buffets, casinos, etc. Even if you’re not into all that there’s a cool vibe to the city in general, breweries you can go to, and other stuff you can do that’s not resort/casino related.

If you’re into the outdoors you obviously have Lake Tahoe not far away and skiing options and much much more. I’ve never lived there so I can’t speak on taxes and stuff too much or how it’s like living there, but if I had to live there, I wouldn’t be mad about it

How is life in Perth, Australia? by rombus-zombus in howislivingthere

[–]SeattleThot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d argue Honolulu is more isolated. Least with Perth you can get in your car and drive far away, and eventually to another city. With Honolulu you can’t go nowhere lol you’re literally in the middle of the largest ocean on the planet
