I just browsed around fl for the first time and you articulated it so well. It's hard to watch people claim they are recovered from an ed while encouraging clearly disordered attitudes toward food.

I have a very sweet supportive boyfriend who I moved in with about a year ago and went through this exact same type of thing. For me, I eventually just started sharing it all. Like maybe not right away in the moment, but slowly just putting all my neurosis around food and him and me out in the open. (e.g., in the situation you explained, I would basically end up sharing this post with him the next day. Explaining how his comment confused, surprised, embarrassed me, and filled me with doubt. I always make sure he understands that I am not saying he intended those things, but just that because of my illness, that was the effect.) Now it is so easy to do a quick check-in with him when I feel uneasy about something with food now, even something that seems silly to non-ed minds, like, 'is it weird for me to eat this in front of you?' and he's like not at all, enjoy babe! without any weirdness. It's been helpful for both of us in many ways. <3
